Ukrainian intelligence reported on the active use of new V2U drones equipped with AI by the Russian Armed Forces

The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reports the beginning of the active use of new strike aircraft by Russian troops in the Sumy region drones V2U equipped with artificial intelligence (AI) systems.

It is claimed that the key feature of the new drone is its ability to autonomously identify and define possible targets using AI. According to Ukrainian intelligence, the V2U computing system is based on the Chinese Leetop A203 mini-computer with the American Jetson Orin processor. V2U is equipped with only one GPS module, which may indicate a refusal to use satellite navigation systems, which makes the device resistant to the influence of Ukrainian systems. EW.

Ukrainian sources suggest that navigation is carried out using “computer vision” – the drone compares the image received from the camera with pre-loaded aerial photographs of the area. In addition, it is possible to control the drone in FPV format via LTE communication. For this purpose, a SIM card of a Ukrainian operator is installed in the UAV.

It is also reported that the Russian government has decided to create a Center for the Development of Artificial Intelligence to systematize the implementation of technology in the country. This decision will have an extremely positive impact in the future, including on the defense sector.

We will soon have a rubber bomb in development with AI that identifies the target according to the principle "Whoever doesn't jump is a Muscovite, and whoever jumps is a loser."

In fact, the electronics there are very simple and the software is not too complicated either. The enemy will have them in a couple of months. But Zaluzhny was right when he said that we are already ahead of the enemy, both in quantity and quality of UAVs. I will say more. And in terms of personnel qualifications, we are already ahead of them in some places. Our fleet has naval UAV operators trained to fly drones in the open sea and successfully hunt enemy UAVs. And this is very difficult, navigation and wind make everything much more complicated there.

What does AI have to do with it?
Just a powerful controller with a working, efficient target recognition algorithm.

So now they call every automatic thing "artificial intelligence". lol

They have come up with a sea of criteria for AI, but these are mostly the wishes of the inspired, overly enthusiastic!!!

The concept of artificial intelligence has become blurred because it has penetrated into almost all spheres of human activity and is perceived by us as commonplace.
In essence, if software takes on certain functions of an operator, teacher, driver, pilot, then it can be called AI.
Although I, like you probably, am closer to the understanding of the term in its original sense, laid down in science fiction works.

Standard situation... manufacturers, creators of programs and other computer hardware, adjust events and criteria to their own desires.
Nothing new, this has happened before.

Artificial intelligence (AI) is the ability of computers or machines to perform tasks that would normally require human intelligence.
The drone does not transmit high-definition streaming video, so that a smart person would stare at it continuously and search for something, but text messages indicating recognized objects and their coordinates and photos, through the enemy's cellular network.
Our main problem is that the reconnaissance depth of drones is very small and is limited by the range of streaming video transmission. This is a maximum of 50...60 km. And this drone can fly over Kiev and transmit information in real time

And yet, what criteria can be used to characterize the concept of AI???
We can accept the position of those smart guys from the Dortmund conference... we can accept the position, the definition, which has been described many times by science fiction writers...
"Can machines think?", "Do androids dream about electric sheep?"
In general, it is a question of FAITH!!! or confidence in your rightness!?

And yet, what criteria can be used to characterize the concept of AI???

There is no artificial intelligence. Nowhere. Not in the US, not in China, not in Japan, nowhere. There is natural brainlessness. There is more than enough of that. And the stupid journalistic fraternity, who are ready to spread any nonsense, just to wind up views.
Intelligence has clearly defined characteristics. And they have never been disputed by anyone. They are manifested through activity, which is called intellectual.
          1) Goal setting and the internal volitional motivation associated with it.
          2) Internal ideal image of a successful result and the process of activity planning associated with it.
          3) Reflection or, in Russian, self-control is the ability to objectively and independently compare real results at each step of planning with the ideal implied result.

Not a single network today shows any sign of intelligence.
Intelligence is not the ability to quickly count or recognize tanks on the battlefield. By the way, a person does not recognize objects, but recognizes them, this is a fundamentally different process. This is the ability to carry out independent intellectual activity.
And I'll tell you more, no one in the world can clearly explain how human intelligence works. There are signs, but the mechanism is unclear. And how do you think you can create something you don't understand? Only in bad Hollywood movies do they act "on instincts" and wait for a "brilliant insight." In real life, this doesn't happen.

Well, what is described in the article:
Navigation is carried out using “computer vision” – the drone compares the image received from the camera with pre-loaded aerial photographs of the area.

This is a novelty of the 90s bottling. The Iskander quasi-ballistics has such a system, and it flies even on Google maps.

And another unconditional sign of intelligence is the ability to not make 10 mistakes in three paragraphs of text :) :) :)

Whatever one may say, this is a big convention.
Human intelligence is a much broader concept.
Here we are talking about a highly specialized replacement, about AI that can do nothing else except (insert the appropriate one).
In this regard, I understand what prompted my comrade’s question.
After all, when in the past they started talking about artificial intelligence, they meant a synthetic analogue of the human mind.

I don’t understand how the presence of a GPS module indicates a rejection of satellite navigation?
Or does it mean that there is no GLONASS and Baidu?

Previously, marketers believed that if you attach a prefix to any well-known word/name "nano", then it becomes incredibly cool and you can increase the price tag.
Now there's a new trick - we take a long-known weapon/equipment, add two treasured letters to the description AI and now we have a ready-made note on any current military-technological topic)))

I apologize... but this topic is also not standing still for the pig-faces. For example, over the past week in the Belgorod region the number of strikes by small drones at a greater than usual depth (more than 35-40 km from the LBS) has increased... they reached Belgorod (the court building), in the distant suburbs they hit a car, today they reached Korocha (and this is more than 50 km from the LBS)... and the places of the strike and the target indirectly indicate that the drone "sees" the target, or the operator adjusts the choice... At the same time, air defense and electronic warfare "miss" these UAVs... the number of shot down and suppressed has decreased... This is a very bad trend, coupled with massive deep strikes! In fact, the squirrels have started a new offensive - airborne sabotage terrorism... an air offensive... with a focus on UAVs... and new qualities will be given to this by the ideas of Magyar... after all, he was appointed commander of unmanned systems
