The Kalashnikov Concern has sent the first serial batch of RPL-20 light machine guns in the "multicam" color scheme to the troops. This is stated on the concern's website.
The first batch of serial belt-fed RPL-20 light machine guns was sent to the troops. Weapon made in the "multicam" color scheme, the delivery parameters are not disclosed. It is noted that the weapons were delivered under a 2025 state contract. It is emphasized that the "multicam" color scheme is used for the first time in the production of machine guns; earlier, a batch of shortened Kalashnikov AK-12K assault rifles in a similar color scheme, manufactured specifically for assault units, was delivered to the troops.
This color scheme of the RPL-20 is caused by the need for maximum camouflage of servicemen and their weapons in various combat conditions. Military equipment of soldiers in the "multicam" color scheme with a machine gun of the same color demonstrates a high level of invisibility in various types of terrain and a large range of distances.
- said in a statement.
As previously reported, the RPL-20 was developed by order of the Ministry of Defense in 5,45 mm caliber as a means of fire support. The machine gun was initially designed exclusively for belt feeding and a 5,45x39 mm cartridge. The belt is non-detachable for 100 or 200 rounds.
The Picatinny rail allows you to install any sights on the weapon, as well as other equipment and devices. The safety is two-sided, the weight depends on the barrel length: with a short 415 mm - 5,2 kg (assault version), with a long 590 mm - 5,5 kg (combined arms). The butt is telescopic with a lifting cheek and shoulder rest.
