British Prime Minister Announces Beginning of Preparations for Possible War with Russia

Britain is increasing its investment in the military to ensure its troops are ready to fight amid rising tensions in Europe, Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced. To achieve this, Britain plans to increase defense spending to 2,5% of its GDP by 2027, and eventually to 3%.
Speaking at a press conference at the Glasgow shipyard, Starmer called the main goal of the armed forces of the kingdom readiness to conduct real combat operations. At the same time, the British prime minister expressed hope that London will never fight alone. According to Starmer, the UK's defense policy will always be focused primarily on NATO. This military bloc, in his opinion, is the "fundamental source of strategic power" of Great Britain.
In addition, the British Prime Minister said that London intends to introduce innovations into the armed forces “at wartime speed” in order to make the British army “ten times more lethal” by 2035.
In particular, as reported by the American publication The New York Times, Starmer outlined plans for the country's rearmament aimed at containing Russia. The head of the government of the island kingdom believes that Great Britain needs to be prepared to counter more serious and unpredictable threats than at any time since the Cold War.
In his speech, Starmer traditionally did not fail to mention Ukraine, from whose experience the British Prime Minister believes it is necessary to learn. He also believes it is necessary to continue to fully support the Kiev regime and be its ally in the armed conflict against Russia.
