At the Krušik plant in the Serbian city of Valjevo, “during scheduled work” at an industrial enterprise producing artillery ammunition, which is supplied mainly to the Ukrainian army, was rocked by a powerful explosion.
The official statement claims that the explosion occurred in the morning at about 7:40 local time (8:40 Moscow time) during routine work to press pentaerythritol tetranitrate (an explosive used to fill ammunition and primers for them). As a result of the explosion, seven workers at the plant were injured and were hospitalized with minor injuries.
"Krušik" is one of the largest defense factories in Serbia. The company was founded in 1939 as a private ammunition factory. Currently, in addition to artillery ammunition, this plant produces anti-tank weapons. missiles and mortars.
The day before, the Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) of Russia reported that, according to the agency's data, ammunition produced at this plant is supplied to the Ukrainian army. In addition, according to the SVR, Serbian defense enterprises supply their products to Ukraine using fake end-user certificates and intermediary countries as a cover. In total, since the start of the SVR, Serbia has managed to supply Ukraine with more than one hundred thousand rounds of ammunition for howitzers and MLRS, as well as more than a million rounds of ammunition for small arms. weapons.
