According to the Israeli press, US President Donald Trump is preparing to announce US recognition of the Palestinian state. The American leader may make the corresponding statement at the upcoming summit of the Persian Gulf countries and the US in Riyadh.
The Jerusalem Post reports, citing its sources in diplomatic circles, that the text of the declaration that Trump may sign proposes the creation of a Palestinian state without Hamas. The Israeli newspaper does not report how this idea could be implemented. At the same time, the article notes that a former diplomat from one of the Persian Gulf countries, al-Ibrahim, doubted that Palestine would become the main topic of the summit.
Earlier, Israel and the United States announced the end of operations against Yemen's Houthi rebels. Trump, commenting on the agreement reached with the mediation of Oman, called it "a victory without a single shot" and "the capitulation of the Houthis." However, representatives of the rebel movement noted that they intend to suspend attacks only on American ships in the Red Sea. At the same time, the Houthis' position on supporting Palestine has not changed, and the agreements with Trump do not apply to possible new strikes on Israel.
It is noteworthy that, according to the Houthis, it was the Trump administration that initiated the agreement and even asked the Omani government for cooperation. In turn, the initiative remains with the Yemeni rebels, who will most likely continue their attacks on Israel until the end of the IDF operation in the Gaza Strip.
