China halts rare earth magnets and minerals shipments amid trade war with US

US President Donald Trump has imposed higher tariffs on imported products, and Beijing has responded in kind. Due to the trade war with the US, China has suspended shipments of some rare earth magnets and minerals.

New York Times columnist Keith Bradsher discusses these restrictions and their consequences.

The media notes that the suspension of Chinese exports of these strategic materials will cause major problems for the automotive, aerospace and defense industries on a global scale. In addition, it will hit semiconductor manufacturers hard. Rare earth magnets, which have an advantage in their technical characteristics over conventional iron magnets, are used in modern industry for the production of cars, drones, missiles and other equipment.

Export of heavy rare earths and magnets based on them is now permitted in China only upon receipt of a special license. At the same time, the licensing system itself is still in the development stage. And until the Chinese authorities implement it, certain types of rare earth products are detained in Chinese ports and are not shipped to foreign consumers.

Earlier this month, US President Donald Trump announced the introduction of trade tariffs on imports from 211 countries and territories. The restrictions were soon suspended for three months for some countries. China was not among them.

This is how independent, self-sufficient countries behave. And after sanctions and the theft of our money, we send uranium, oil and other resources, pleasing white people in the USA and Europe.

Does this in any way affect the sources of budget revenue?
Our budget is partially based on oil and gas revenues, for example. In what currencies initially, that's already a fifth matter.

Unfortunately. The Russian economy is supported by 40-50% of raw materials sales. We buy machine tools, a lot of equipment and components from around the world for foreign currency. You live like you're not in Russia, damn it. We lost our powerful industry in the 90s.

Well then let them kill us, with our own resources? And it is not the economy that is supported by the sale of raw materials, but the income of the oligarchs first and foremost.

The production of final products needs to be developed. And those who trade in raw materials will always remain in third-rate positions. Pushkin said this, although the Russian government apparently does not read such books. They use manuals from the IMF and other structures. That is why we now have a Central Bank rate of 21%, which even kills the likelihood of establishing production and development in the country and, as a result, leaves us in the camp of the mumbo-jumbo tribes. And then, if we also exchanged raw materials for equipment (as we did under Stalin), then everything would still be fine. But when the lion's share of profits goes into private pockets and practically nothing goes to development, then that's it - curtains.

Some of our fellow citizens, for example residents of the Sudzhensky district, no longer need money from the budget.
Oil, uranium, titanium and other metals supplied to NATO countries are used to manufacture weapons and fuel supplied to the Ukrainian Armed Forces. For example, neither Lokheed-Martin (ATACMS missiles) nor Rheinmetall (tanks, shells, missiles) are even under sanctions and can directly buy resources from the Russian Federation for manufacturing weapons. For example, in China, US military-industrial complex companies are under sanctions due to weapons supplies to Taiwan, the Chinese communists do not need these funds for the budget.

This is how independent countries behave.

Then why do "independent, sovereign countries" tolerate the tyranny of the Yankees on their own territory, in Taiwan, for example? It's called the "One China Policy."))

The Chinese communists have imposed sanctions on companies supplying weapons to Taiwan.
"On November 30, the United States announced arms sales to Taiwan totaling approximately $385 million. The Chinese Foreign Ministry issued a "Decision on taking countermeasures against American military-industrial enterprises and senior management personnel." The assets of individuals and legal entities subject to sanctions have been frozen, and business with them is prohibited. The company executives are prohibited from entering China, the department clarified.
The list includes, in particular, the following enterprises: Triton Brown Engineering, BRINC Drone, Rapid Flight, Red Six Solutions, Shield Artificial Intelligence, Cygnus, Firestorm Laboratories, Quitos Drone Systems, Havoc Artificial Intelligence, Nilex Technologies, Cyberlex, Domo Tactical Communications, Group W."

"China has imposed sanctions on two American defense companies, Lockheed Martin and Raytheon Missiles and Defense Corporation (a subsidiary of Raytheon Technologies), Reuters reports. Both were added to a "list of unreliable enterprises" for supplying weapons to Taiwan.

According to a decree issued by the Chinese Ministry of Commerce, Lockheed Martin and Raytheon are now prohibited from "engaging in import and export activities related to China." In addition, the companies will not be able to receive investment from China, their top managers are banned from entering China, and all previously issued residence permits for Lockheed Martin and Raytheon employees have been revoked. In addition, China has imposed fines on the companies that are twice the amount of revenue American companies earn from arms sales to Taiwan.

Taiwan officially requested these systems in response to China's naval blockade exercises against Taiwan, but the US limited itself to sending a couple of Aegis-equipped destroyers to the Taiwan Strait. Although, for example, the Houthis are being pounded by three aircraft carriers and a dozen Aegis-equipped destroyers.

Comrade Xi has seriously entered the confrontation, and this is good news. Maybe now their banks will stop being afraid of secondary sanctions and trade with us will be easier. Also, the blow to the US economy cannot but please, weakening Trump's position in the negotiations. The situation has forced the Chinese to open a second front against the US. Waiting on the shore is over. It will become easier for us, in any case.

The effect is already there. The ruble continues to strengthen against the backdrop of extremely low oil prices. It must be that the Chinese are switching from American treasuries to our OFZs.

Absolutely right. The US has already had some strange stories with chicken eggs, the price has jumped significantly, there is a shortage, many stores give out packs of them individually. According to their own analysis, the price is planned to rise by another 41% this year. Something like that.
