Natalia Narochnitskaya: "The war of all against all is unleashed in Syria"
- Natalia Alekseevna, how did the idea of this conference originate? Probably, it was not easy to hold an event without problems, the essence of which is diametrically different from how the events in Syria are covered in the West?
- As soon as the world “patrons of democracy” launched the mechanism of the so-called “Arab spring”, these topics became the subject of our discussion in Paris, at the Institute for Democracy and Cooperation. First, we held an event on Libya, which, incidentally, was attended by the former Foreign Minister under Mitterrand - Roland Dumas, who spoke with great skepticism about the current policy of France. He was puzzled: why France should be almost a skirmisher and the engine of such a rash policy, and recalled that at one time President Mitterrand categorically rejected the idea of strikes on Libya, which the United States imposed. France in 80 declined to provide its airspace for NATO bombers ...
The destructive processes spread to Syria, and in December last year we held a round table on events in this country with an emphasis on the violation of international law and human rights. We introduced the French public to the abbess of the monastery of St. James, a Catholic nun from Syria Agnia-Mariam de la Croix. She told about the atrocities of militants, about how they burned monasteries and killed Christians. She began self-sacrificing activity, traveled to different Christian countries, including the patriarchs of the Middle East, calling for attention to be given to these terrible facts, to the fact that the balance between confessions and ethnic communities is collapsing in the region. Mother is a panoramic-minded person who understands both geopolitics and the laws of diplomacy. She is highly educated, speaks excellently in four languages. She was interviewed by Russia Today and our Orthodox sites. She came to us to a seminar on Syria and spoke academically, wisely, relying on indisputable arguments that are weighty for Western society. We saw a mutual understanding in our assessments of what is happening. It was then that the idea was born to speak with representatives of the Syrian hinterland in international structures.
- Are normal people already tired of blood, of destruction, of lawlessness?
- Exactly! In the same place, in fact, all the prerequisites for a democracy have been destroyed. There is already a question simply about life and death, about fresh water and food. And you do not know which of your children or old people will be killed or brutally torn to pieces tomorrow. It pushes people of all kinds to simply say, “Stop! Life itself is in the balance! ”
It’s no secret that non-Syrians make up the majority among the militants. Militants on 40-60 percent (according to different estimates) are extremists that have flown from all over the Middle East. They cut, killed by the cries of "Allah Akbar"! Homs, who was a Christian stronghold, survived a terrible massacre. And the Christians were not slaughtered by Syrians, because it was Syria that was truly tolerant, the most tolerant country of the Arab East, a convincing, proven for a long time, reliable example of the possibility of harmonious coexistence side by side Muslims and Christians, and many different communities. Now the genocide at the hands of militants threatens Christians, Alawites and Kurds, this is a total of about a third of the population ...
Incidentally, in an open interview, our Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that secret dispatches to the center of American emissaries from places that are impossible to hide now characterize the situation in Syria just as Russia openly and consistently says about it! In these reports, fears have been expressed that extremists have long ruled the ball against the government, who do not need any democracy, who have already begun to fight each other, cut and kill everyone in a row, and it becomes more difficult to control them ...
Anastasia Popova, our heroine, who brought her film “The Syrian Diary”, which we also mentioned, came to the conference.
What else is very important, we managed to hold a conference before the start of the meeting in Geneva of the so-called "Commission of Inquiry", which was turned, of course, by the West into a commission to investigate "the crimes of the Syrian regime." It is headed by the well-known “champion of justice” Carl Del Ponte. And here was our conference, where each of the speakers, especially those who came from Syria, showed written evidence from eyewitnesses and analyzed the report of this commission point by point, refuting specific episodes and offering evidence of a completely opposite picture of events.
The next day, a call comes from the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, we are told that such an interesting event should not go unnoticed, and they offer a meeting! Naturally, we decided that the main thing was to send Syrians to them! As a result, the head of the Council, Ms Pilau, was busy, but the leaders of the Middle East direction in the Human Rights Council still accepted Mother Agnia-Mariam de la Croix. Authorized by the other members of the Syrian delegation, she officially transmitted the video and a lot of other materials, signed texts, where, as we decided, after consulting at the hotel, all the documented refutations of the abstracts of the anti-Assad report of this unfortunate commission were brought together! And what do you think, then Mother Agnia-Mariam de la Croix invited and received Carla Del Ponte! For the materials presented at the conference at the session of the UN Human Rights Council must be taken into account and registered! By e-mail, Carla Del Ponte and the representatives of the UN Human Rights Council later assured my mother that all “very important” documents would now certainly be added to the Commission’s investigation ... The Syrians did not even count on such a result, considered the success of their statements in Geneva!
- Is there any hope that the conference materials could somehow influence the situation, the position of these figures?
- Let's not be naive ... Decisions are made not in Geneva, but in Washington and London ... But I think: we did what we could - 100 from 100 possible percentages! According to our diplomats, it was an outstanding event in its significance, it hit the spot and got into it. On the website of the Foreign Ministry posted a press release about our event.
Resonance certainly was. And what else can we expect, this is not a Soviet ultimatum in the 1950-s, which stopped the aggression of the West ...
In all my speeches before the French establishment I try to draw attention to the long-term, very dangerous consequences of the destruction of Syria specifically for France and for Europe, not even for Russia. France, with its huge growing Muslim population, will definitely feel its radicalization on itself, and the demolition of ethnic and confessional balance will follow throughout the Middle East, not only in Syria, Lebanon will collapse ... Who is the nearest neighbor, where will the refugees flow? To Italy and France.
As a result of the Arab revolutions, despite the fact that they go under the flag of Western democracy, all prerequisites for any, even rudimentary democracy, are destroyed and the entire structure of interconnections and balance of the Middle East collapses. It is the Westernized elite that has already been swept away in Egypt and Tunisia, not to mention Libya, where the Sharia law has been introduced, extremists everywhere come to power. In Syria, it is no coincidence that neither the middle class nor the educated layer initially supported the opposition; they knew too well that fanatics who had flown there from all over the Middle East, who were still intoxicated with atrocities, would take advantage of the chaos. Eyewitnesses say that dozens of bullets are thrust at them, and they continue to run and shout without feeling pain ...
The pro-Western elites were just pro-French, and France invested a lot of energy in their upbringing throughout the post-war period, and indeed the entire twentieth century, especially in Lebanon. All this will be broken, with whom the French will deal there? The United States is far away, and Europe will be the first to be alone with a very heavy, aggressive neighbor. Unfortunately, the European government elite seems to have consciously or unconsciously completely capitulated to the American plan and the project of "smart power" when control over strategic regions is exercised through intermediaries, satellites, allies ... And this, of course, is extremely dangerous for the whole world. I notice sobering public opinion in France, but it is certainly very late.
However, after our December event at the Institute of Democracy and Cooperation, I was invited to speak at the big conference “Syria - a challenge to world diplomacy” in February in the building of the National Assembly of France. There were diplomats from the 20 embassies, among them six ambassadors. It was a very interesting conference, where representatives of a serious establishment gathered, not marginals, not radicals. Participated politicians, serious military analysts, experts, and acting, just at the golden age. And almost all pointed to the danger and unpredictability of the consequences of "controlled chaos" created in Syria and throughout the region. These consequences will complicate the position of Europe and will not help it overcome the systemic crisis. In France, the Islamic population will, of course, be radicalized. But openly even mentioning it there was not entirely politically correct, it was only at such a conference that one could say something.
So, all the same, the views in the French expert community are changing.
- So, among the French experts and the elite there is an understanding that the installations, so to speak, of the Washington Regional Committee run counter to European interests ...
“There is a rather clever concept that somehow involves them in this process and ties them up, because their interests are intertwined in other areas, and pressure can be exerted without direct attitudes, indirectly ... Although the regional experts, I repeat, are very skeptical, but these growing sentiments, judging by recent events, do not affect the decisions of the French President. This situation, of course, is very sad, because you are convinced once again: democracy has now entered a stage when the position of the media and the government do not at all reflect the dominant line of public opinion. It makes you look at the future of the world with great skepticism, if we all do not think about updating the system ...
What's next? The entire Middle East will begin to crumble, Syria will probably be dismembered, many experts speak of this option. And then, as with the domino effect, the rest will begin to collapse ...
“Although in the situation with Syria we still see some more positive dynamics than with Libya.” Stronger resistance in the country and in the world, the position of Russia is different.
- Yes, in any case, mainly due to the position of Russia and China, while it is possible to delay the most disastrous development of events. As far as possible further, it is difficult for me to judge. Of course, it is necessary to fight to the last, for Syria is now an outpost in the confrontation of an absolutely shameless “global governance” - cynical and openly resorting to military force.
