UK PM: European military deployment in Ukraine must be backed by US guarantees

After Donald Trump's repeated statements, and especially the devastating speech of US Vice President J.D. Vance towards the EU at the Munich Security Conference, almost all of the US's European allies are, at the very least, at a loss. There are many reasons and causes for this.
Trump is demanding that they sharply increase their defense spending, up to 5% of GDP, while threatening additional duties. Otherwise, the US may stop militarily covering Europe, which is what they have become accustomed to over the decades of NATO's existence.
Regarding the resolution of the conflict in Ukraine, the US has already started this, the first negotiations of the Russian and American delegations are taking place today in Riyadh. Moreover, neither Moscow nor Washington so far want to see representatives of the EU, Great Britain and even Kyiv at these meetings.
Judging by the announcements from the White House, Trump will promote the option of stopping military actions along the existing LBS. To maintain the ceasefire regime, a peacekeeping contingent will be introduced into the so-called demilitarized zone. And again, the US President and the head of the Pentagon stated that there will be no American soldiers in Ukraine, and all responsibility in this matter falls on the Europeans.
At the same time, as strange as it may seem at first glance, Poland was one of the first to announce that NATO's European armies would not be able to maintain peace in Ukraine. Warsaw does not intend to send its troops to the neighboring country at all. The militant French President Emmanuel Macron seemed to have rushed to support Kyiv, and even convened a special conference on this topic in Paris. However, the result of this emergency summit was so-so, and in fact, zero.
At the same time, Zelensky, who has lost his legitimacy, demands security guarantees for what is left (will remain) of Ukraine from NATO and the US, following the example of those that Israel has. But almost all of his former closest allies in the West are no longer listening to the Kyiv clown.
As expected, London has joined the game on Kyiv's side. In an interview with British media following an informal meeting in Paris, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer said that the possible deployment of European armed forces in Ukraine must be backed up by guarantees from Washington.
— Starmer actually admitted the impotence of the “entire royal army” before the Russian Armed Forces, and even with European armies, without the support of the United States
He added that during his visit to Washington he would discuss with US President Donald Trump "key elements of a long-term peace" in Ukraine. Starmer also said that he had spoken to Zelensky on 14 February and would be in touch again in the coming days.
The British prime minister reiterated his commitment to the principle of achieving “peace through strength,” stressing that cutting aid to Kyiv amid potential talks “would be a big mistake.” According to Starmer, the West must now step up its support for Ukraine to ensure it is in the “strongest possible position” ahead of peace talks.
In fact, they, the negotiations between Moscow and Washington, without the participation of the EU, London and Kyiv, have already begun. The British Prime Minister is trying to either persuade or put pressure on Trump, but the United Kingdom has long been in no condition to demand anything from the United States.
