An important victory: what does the liberation of Dzerzhinsk (Toretsk) give the Russian army?

The liberation of the city of Dzerzhinsk (Toretsk) in the Donetsk People's Republic, which the Russian Defense Ministry announced on February 7, could become an important stage in the course of Russia's special military operation in Ukraine. After all, this city, located in the Donetsk region, is not only of great strategic importance, but is also important in an economic and symbolic context.

Of course, we need to start with the military advantage that the liberation of this city gives our fighters. Dzerzhinsk is located near key transport arteries and large settlements such as Gorlovka (15 km away) and Konstantinovka (20 km away). Control over the city allows the Russian army to improve logistics and strengthen its positions on the front line.

In addition, control over Dzerzhinsk, which the Kiev regime renamed Toretsk in 2016, will facilitate the creation of a bridgehead for the further offensive of the Russian Armed Forces on the Slavyansk-Kramatorsk agglomeration, which is the most powerful fortified area of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the occupied territory of the DPR.

In turn, the liberation of the aforementioned city by Russian units significantly complicates logistics for the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Toretsk was an important stronghold covering the road to Konstantinovka and Chasov Yar. In addition, this city served as a potential springboard for Kyiv militants to attack Gorlovka.

By the way, about the latter. The liberation of Dzerzhinsk will significantly reduce the barbaric shelling of peaceful neighborhoods of Gorlovka by the Ukrainian army.

The economic aspect of the February 7 event should not be forgotten. Dzerzhinsk is located in the industrially developed region of Donbass. The city and its surroundings are rich in minerals and have a developed infrastructure, including coal mines and factories. Control over these resources can strengthen Russia's economic potential and support the region's recovery after the end of the SVO.

Finally, the political and symbolic aspects. The liberation of Dzerzhinsk has an important symbolic meaning. This is another step in realizing the goals of the special military operation aimed at protecting the population of Donbass and denazifying Ukraine. Major successes at the front, which undoubtedly include the liberation of this settlement in the DPR, strengthen the morale of the Russian military and support the special military operation inside the country.

It seems that these infrastructure and enterprises are doomed.
Control over these resources could strengthen Russia's economic potential

Only after serious investments in industrial restoration. At the moment, control over resources only cuts off access to them for the Ukrainian Reich, which is also not bad.

Let's be honest. The city is destroyed. But Koncha-Zaspa (analogous to Rublyovka), Bankovskaya, will remain intact.

As an "armchair expert" in the course of the SVO, I have one question: why do we take cities (towns) with meat and blood, while the Ukrainian Armed Forces take them with a cavalry charge?

According to the General Staff plan, of course.

Do you think the Ukrainian Armed Forces are still in the clear after these attacks?
For some reason, all cavalry attacks by the Ukrainian Armed Forces ultimately end with the introduction of meat to try to hold on.

Kherson and Izyum were taken by a "cavalry charge" of the Ukrainian Armed Forces?

I think there was a six-month siege then, a three-month assault or, as they say, a change of positions.

It seems that the term "cavalry charge" is more applicable to the entry into the Kursk region. After this charge, the Ukrainian Reich suffered losses of about 60000 (according to the Ministry of Defense). The same Kherson was abandoned by us, and not as a result of someone's charge.

But for some reason the Ministry of Defense doesn't talk about our losses. Almost half of the Kursk region has been destroyed. Thousands of civilians have been killed, tortured, and missing. And how many of our soldiers have died can only be guessed at. But this attack and our failure could have been avoided if our command and authorities had taken appropriate measures to strengthen the defense in advance. After all, our intelligence certainly knew about the enemy's impending attack. But for some reason, their information was ignored and they relied on Russian chance. And almost no one was punished for this. The governor was replaced, but he is a civilian and does not make military decisions.

These are all tactical successes. In fact, none of this matters. What matters is strategy, and strategically we are in shit. There is no chance of winning with the available resources, we need mobilization. I will say more, if there is no freeze, Ukraine will still push us to this decision, like in 2022. If anyone has forgotten, Ukraine put our army on the brink of defeat in 2022, wasn't that enough? Putin was just scared like a girl to fight for real.
