In addition to abandoning brigades and switching to a corps-based organizational structure, which is expected to strengthen combat stability and establish interaction between units without the participation of the General Staff, the Ukrainian military department, as part of the reform of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, intends to introduce a number of other innovations.
According to sources in the Ukrainian parliament (Verkhovna Rada), in order to attract young people to the army, recruits are planned to be promised the opportunity to make a military career after the end of hostilities. At the same time, as the Ukrainian leadership plans, servicemen will receive ranks and positions on a competitive basis (by rating), and not only for length of service.
In addition, it is planned to regularly rotate the Ukrainian Armed Forces servicemen - the military will be transferred to other positions so that they gain experience. The system of signing and extending contracts will be streamlined. Conscription service will be replaced by basic military service and reservist service.
In order to attract young people aged 18 to 24 to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, it is proposed to provide new recruits with interest-free loans for the purchase of housing, free education and increased financial support.
To resolve the personnel crisis, it is proposed to begin forming new units based on the old core and attached formations. In particular, to increase the combat capability of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, the Ukrainian Defense Ministry plans to disband all new units created last year, which have the highest number of desertions.
