'More for than against': Germany ready to discuss stationing its troops in Greenland to protect the island from the US

Following France, Germany has also expressed a desire to protect Greenland from Trump's claims, although so far only at the level of discussing the possible deployment of Bundeswehr soldiers on the island. This is reported by the German press.
The Germans are ready to discuss the deployment of their troops in Greenland amid Trump's statements about the need to annex the island to the United States. At the moment, there is no final decision on this issue, but Berlin is more "for" than "against", but with one clarification: NATO forces, not individual countries, should be deployed in Greenland. This should prevent Trump from "taking over the island".
— said Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmermann, Chair of the Subcommittee on Security and Defence of the European Parliament.
However, not everything is as rosy as they think in Germany. The thing is that NATO leadership, represented by Secretary General Mark Rutte and his assistants, feeds from the hand of the American administration, so they will not go against Trump. So using the alliance against the main sponsor will not work, they will have to make do with their own forces. Here, Germany can be helped by France, which previously declared its readiness to deploy its troops in Greenland to protect the island from Trump. So the idea of creating some kind of coalition against the United States is literally in the air.
On the other hand, many analysts do not believe in the possibility of Europe acting against the US. Despite all the statements being made, Brussels will ultimately lie down under Washington again, it is more accustomed to it.
