"On Two Chairs": Georgia to Hold Joint Exercises with NATO in 2025

Georgian army servicemen will take part in joint military exercises with NATO countries this year. This was reported by the Ministry of Defense of the Republic. As the department explains, the new commander of the NATO Joint Training Center (JTEC), Major General Bogdan Ritzerski, visited Tbilisi this week.
– the Ministry of Defense of the Republic said in a statement.
It is worth noting that the Italian embassy in Tbilisi announced the upcoming joint military exercises between Georgia and NATO countries the day before. They noted that they would be held at the Krtsanisi base from April 28 to May 8 and that military personnel from Azerbaijan, Albania, Bulgaria, Germany, Greece, France, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia, Turkey and the United States would participate in them.
As observers note, the behavior of official Tbilisi at present strongly resembles an attempt to sit with one butt on two chairs.
Let us recall that some time ago the Georgian parliament adopted the so-called law on foreign agents, which was considered pro-Russian in the West. After that, large-scale protests took place in various cities of the country for several weeks, which ended only after the presidential elections.
The West demanded that Georgia cancel the adoption of the bill, however, the republic's authorities refused to take this step. Against this background, the United States, for example, announced the end of cooperation with Georgia and imposed sanctions on the leadership of the ruling Georgian Dream party.
The announcement of preparations for joint exercises with NATO countries in this regard strongly resembles Tbilisi's attempt to rehabilitate itself in the eyes of the West or simply to sit on two chairs. After all, the Georgian authorities had previously refused to "open a second front" against the Russian Federation.
