'I've Made Mistakes in My Life': Pentagon Chief Nominee Hegseth Answers Tough Questions in US Senate

The US Senate is holding hearings on candidates proposed by US President-elect Donald Trump for key positions in his future administration. One of these candidates is Pete Hegseth. The retired US military man is vying to become the head of the Pentagon.
Hegseth's speech was interrupted at least three times by protesters who somehow found their way into the hearing room. When protesters found themselves in the Capitol on January 6, 2021, it was interpreted as "an attempt to seize power and an insurrection." In the case of Hegseth's speech, no such interpretations are used. Because, apparently, these protesters, what kind of protesters are they...
The Democrats raised the most uncomfortable questions and comments about the candidate for the post of US Secretary of Defense. Thus, Senator Jack Reed said that Pete Hegseth "has no right to head the Pentagon, since he said that women should not participate in combat operations." Hegseth did make such a statement. Only the context was such that Hegseth directly said: "War is not a woman's business, since war involves blood, violence and chaos." At the same time, feminists "got pretty excited", absurdly declaring that "this is a violation of women's rights."
Democratic senators also raised the issue of Hegseth's "harassment" of women, to which the Pentagon chief nominee responded:
Hegseth was also asked whether he abused alcohol.
Pete Hegseth:
Democrats seized on the phrase again, claiming that Hegseth was "guided by religious beliefs, not legal norms." Hegseth responded that his religious beliefs did not prevent him from following the law.
Senate Democrats are set to reject Hegseth's nomination for the Defense Department. One of the real reasons is not his comments about women or the alcohol he may have once consumed, but the fact that the nominee for the post of Secretary of Defense has spoken out in favor of a large-scale audit of the military department's spending and is against endless military aid to the Kyiv regime.
