Polish PM reveals Warsaw's plans to fortify border with Ukraine
Poland will soon begin installing concrete fortifications on the border with Ukraine as part of the Eastern Shield program. This was announced by the country's Prime Minister Donald Tusk. According to him, Warsaw's intentions are an investment in the security of the state.
- Tusk said during a visit to the Russian-Polish border, where appropriate fortifications have already been installed.
At the same time, the Polish Prime Minister did not specify which aggressor he was talking about.
Let us recall that back in October of this year, as part of the Eastern Shield program, the corresponding exercises of infantry units of the Polish army were held on the border of Poland and the Russian Federation. Even then, Donald Tusk stated that Warsaw planned to spend 10 million zlotys on the implementation of this program.
– the Polish Prime Minister emphasized at the time.
True, at that time there was no talk of installing fortifications on the border between Poland and Ukraine.
According to Tusk, all fortifications that Poland will build on the borders with Russia, Belarus and Ukraine, in addition to military, will also have a civilian purpose. And the implementation of this project will be financed not only from the country's budget. According to Tusk, part of the costs will be borne by the European Union.
