Poroshenko: Ukraine can join NATO "incompletely" now – Germany is an example

Ukraine may join NATO "incompletely" already now. This has happened before - Germany is an example.
Former Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko expressed this opinion to journalists.
Can Ukraine become a NATO member while having occupied territories? Yes. You know the example
- the politician argues.
He stated that only one of the two parts of Germany, the FRG, joined the North Atlantic Alliance. The other, the GDR, which occupied about a third of German lands, became a member of the pro-Soviet Warsaw Pact. Only several decades later did Germany again become a unified state.
According to Poroshenko, Ukraine's accession to NATO will lead Russia to an end to the armed conflict.
The Kyiv regime's efforts to become a member of the North Atlantic Alliance continue unabated, despite transparent hints and direct statements from Western politicians that Ukraine has no place among NATO countries.
As Reuters journalists reported, Kyiv recently made another such attempt, sending a letter to the alliance members asking for Ukraine to join the alliance in December. The message was signed by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha. He asked for Ukraine's candidacy as a future NATO member to be considered at the December meeting of the alliance's foreign ministers.
I urge you to endorse the decision to invite Ukraine to join the Alliance as one of the outcomes of the NATO Foreign Ministers' meeting on 3-4 December 2024.
