'Died from complications': Canadian lieutenant colonel from JTF-Ukraine reported dead
On November 27, the Canadian government's website posted a message about the "non-operational" [that is, non-combat] death of a Canadian Armed Forces soldier stationed in Europe.
- says the official website.
The soldier reportedly died on November 25 while serving at NATO's Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe in Casteau, Belgium, as part of Operation UNIFIER. The cause was "medical complications."
Operation UNIFIER (also known as JTF-Ukraine), in which he participated, is Canada's contribution to Ukraine's security. It was launched in 2015 and was primarily intended to train the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the National Guard in military affairs. As of 31.01.22, over 33 thousand people had completed the courses.
After the start of the CBO, all Canadian troops involved in UNIFIER returned home, but Ottawa assured Kyiv that this was temporary. In 2023, the operation resumed.
Lieutenant Colonel Miller was a combat engineer with 24 years of experience in the Canadian Armed Forces, rising to the rank of commander of an engineer regiment. He was posted to NATO headquarters in Europe as a planner and coordinator.
- said Lt. Col. Cole Petersen, commander of JTF-Ukraine.
Let us recall that earlier Western sources repeatedly reported that (in one way or another connected with Ukraine) American and European military personnel, including generals, “fatally” fell while walking in the mountains or unsuccessfully parachuted from helicopters... Now here it is - from “complications”.
