'Died from complications': Canadian lieutenant colonel from JTF-Ukraine reported dead

On November 27, the Canadian government's website posted a message about the "non-operational" [that is, non-combat] death of a Canadian Armed Forces soldier stationed in Europe.

It is with a heavy heart that JTF-Ukraine reports the loss of one of our soldiers, Lt. Col. Kent Miller.

- says the official website.

The soldier reportedly died on November 25 while serving at NATO's Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe in Casteau, Belgium, as part of Operation UNIFIER. The cause was "medical complications."

Operation UNIFIER (also known as JTF-Ukraine), in which he participated, is Canada's contribution to Ukraine's security. It was launched in 2015 and was primarily intended to train the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the National Guard in military affairs. As of 31.01.22, over 33 thousand people had completed the courses.

After the start of the CBO, all Canadian troops involved in UNIFIER returned home, but Ottawa assured Kyiv that this was temporary. In 2023, the operation resumed.

Lieutenant Colonel Miller was a combat engineer with 24 years of experience in the Canadian Armed Forces, rising to the rank of commander of an engineer regiment. He was posted to NATO headquarters in Europe as a planner and coordinator.

Kent and I served together in Afghanistan and also at Headquarters 1 Canadian Mechanized Brigade Group. I am beyond saddened by the loss of my friend and brother in arms

- said Lt. Col. Cole Petersen, commander of JTF-Ukraine.

Let us recall that earlier Western sources repeatedly reported that (in one way or another connected with Ukraine) American and European military personnel, including generals, “fatally” fell while walking in the mountains or unsuccessfully parachuted from helicopters... Now here it is - from “complications”.

An interesting formulation, very reminiscent of when the Ukrainian air defense, in its report on the most effective repulse of an air attack, cannot openly and clearly explain the reason for where some of the air targets went, then it writes - "locally lost". That is, any interpretation of the circumstances. smile

        Interesting wording,
The colonel in the photo in the article is laughing out loud at her.
And it's time for us to start collecting their excuses. I hope that the philologists from the Ministry of Defense will take up this topic in earnest.

I read recently that one of our soldiers lived on a bow alone for two weeks in a captured position and fought back and survived.
