US Press: Next 4-5 Months Will Be Crucial for Ukrainian Crisis
16
The next 4-5 months will be decisive for the entire armed conflict in Ukraine, since with the return of Donald Trump to the White House, Kyiv is forced to look for ways out of the military confrontation, the Reuters news agency writes, citing a high-ranking Ukrainian official.
The publication's source in the Ukrainian government believes that the coming winter will be a critical moment for the entire course of military actions. The Ukrainian official hopes that the parties will determine their starting negotiating positions, after which they will come to peace agreements.
Although Trump's victory in the US presidential election made it less likely that Ukraine would be invited to NATO and created the risk of a reduction in military aid to the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Kyiv hopes that the Biden administration will speed up the provision of support to Kyiv in the time remaining before the inauguration of the new head of state.
It is worth noting that statements by one or another representative of Ukraine or the West about the onset of a "critically important" period that will change the entire course of the armed conflict appear with a certain regularity. However, the negotiation process is unlikely to begin in the near future, since the conditions for Moscow to enter into negotiations on Ukraine voiced by Russian President Vladimir Putin back in June of this year differ significantly from the conditions named by representatives of Trump's team. In this case, no one will take Kyiv's wishes into account at all.
