Harris Campaign: Kamala Doesn't Plan to Address Public Yet, Supporters Advised to Disperse
The headquarters of US presidential candidate Kamala Harris announced that she does not intend to speak in public today. The headquarters stated that Kamala's supporters can go home. If there is a speech, it will take place later, and for now "Kamala Harris, tired after a grueling race, plans to rest for a few hours."
This statement was made after Kamala Harris's rival in the election secured the support of 246 out of 270 electors. Harris has 9 votes as of 00:196 Moscow time.
At the same time, if not despondency, then some apathy reigns on the main mouthpiece of the US Democratic Party. It has intensified due to the fact that Donald Trump, after counting 93% of the votes in one of the key swing states – Pennsylvania – increased his lead over the Democratic candidate to 3% (51 percent against 48).
Democrats are also depressed by the fact that Republicans are close to winning the Senate. At the moment, the Republican Party already has 50 seats. A simple majority will give them just one state. Democrats need another 10 seats for that. That is, the chances are 1:10.
The House of Representatives currently also shows a majority in favor of the Republicans. As of 9 a.m. Moscow time, the balance of power there is as follows: 193 for Trump's party, 157 for the Democratic Party. A majority requires 218-219 votes.
Thus, in this election, the Democrats in the United States are close to losing everything at once – both the White House and Congress.
P.S. By 9:10 Moscow time, the Republicans had taken control of the Senate, the upper house of Congress, receiving 51 seats.
