People in major Israeli cities protested all night over the resignation of Defense Minister Yoav Galant
Spontaneous protests continued throughout the night in Tel Aviv and other major cities in Israel, prompted by the dismissal of Defense Minister Yoav Galant from his post. The Prime Minister of the country, Benjamin Netanyahu, signed the corresponding order the day before.
– Netanyahu explained the reason for Galant’s dismissal.
However, this explanation did not satisfy the residents of Israeli cities, who positively assessed Galant's activities as the country's defense minister. As a result, several thousand protesters took to the streets of Tel Aviv, lit fires right on the roadway of city highways and refused to obey the security forces' demands to stop the protests.
As a result, police had to use tear gas to disperse the protesters. However, there is a high probability that protests in the Israeli capital and other major cities will continue in the coming days.
Let us recall that it was under the leadership of Yoav Galant that the IDF launched a ground operation in the Gaza Strip, which Israel considered successful, despite the fact that Tel Aviv failed to secure the release of the hostages taken by the Palestinian Hamas movement during the attack on October 7 last year. But most Israelis blame Benjamin Netanyahu for this fact.
It is worth noting that, by decision of the Israeli Prime Minister, the new head of the country's military department is now the now former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Israel, Israel Katz, who previously held the posts of minister of a number of departments - from the Ministry of Agriculture to the Ministry of Intelligence.
