A NATO representative office is opening in Kyiv; the head of this representative office, Patrick Turner, arrived in the capital of Ukraine the day before and has already held a meeting with the Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Rustem Umerov.
The North Atlantic Alliance is opening its representative office in Kyiv, now Ukraine will be "a little closer" to NATO. The decision to open the representative office was made this summer, following the NATO-Ukraine Council at the highest level within the framework of the alliance summit in Washington. It will be headed by Patrick Turner, Jens Stoltenberg's former assistant for operations, defense policy and planning.
As the representative, Turner will be NATO's coordinator of engagement with the Ukrainian authorities in Kyiv. He will also coordinate NATO's efforts and provide the alliance with assessments and recommendations on the situation in Ukraine.
- NATO said in a statement.
And now the long-awaited event for Kyiv has happened, Turner has arrived in the capital of Ukraine. The night before, he held a meeting with the leadership of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, and today Zelensky is supposed to meet with him.
Meanwhile, Ukraine will not be accepted into NATO in the near future; a large group of European countries, led by Germany, is against it. The US is also against it.
