Is the Korean Peninsula on the brink of war?

118
The situation on the Korean Peninsula has slipped to a serious aggravation. The official reason for the aggravation is considered to be the next nuclear tests, which in the DPRK were carried out 12 February this year. As soon as the North Korean rumbled, the Korean South, to put it mildly, became agitated. The excitement was expressed in absolutely undiplomatic statements of official Seoul, who was used to restraint. The representative of the South Korean authorities with ill-disguised indignation publicly stated that with us, they say, is enough, that, they say, if you wish, we can level the whole of North Korea along with its current leader with the land ...

Arrows of criticism against the DPRK and its nuclear tests fell not only from South Korea. All permanent members of the Security Council, including China and the Russian Federation, expressed their concern that Pyongyang is not going to listen to the aspirations of the world community, which (aspirations) are aimed at the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula. After the discovery of alarm on its part, the UN Security Council decided to adopt another resolution aimed at ensuring that official Pyongyang slowed down its "nuclear momentum." This time, the sanctions concern bans on overflights of aircraft in the DPRK and from the DPRK over other countries if there is information that there are prohibited materials on the aircraft (materials used in the creation of rocket technology and nuclear warheads). In addition, the resolution imposes restrictions on trade relations with North Korea if these relations are based on trade in nuclear technology and other related things. The resolution contains items that relate to restrictive measures against officials of the DPRK related to the development of the nuclear program in the country.

Well, so that Kim Jong Un, as they say, didn’t seem like life with honey, they decided to arrest the accounts in foreign banks of representatives of the North Korean authorities, import of jewelry, yachts and luxury cars to the DPRK. How much the North Koreans were offended by the last point of the resolution - we can assume by the number of luxury cars on the roads of Pyongyang and snow-white yachts in the ports of the DPRK ... But the seizure of funds could have manifested itself within a few hours after the adoption of a formidable resolution. The fact is that the Americans and South Koreans announced the discovery of hundreds of millions of dollars allegedly belonging to Kim Jong Ynu in Chinese banks. After that, Washington and Seoul demanded that Beijing seize the accounts of the DPRK leader. They say that the resolution was supported, so be kind ... The Chinese, although they really supported the resolution on the DPRK, they still looked askance at the “partners” from the United States and South Korea and said that they personally have no data on the presence of Mr. Kim’s accounts in the PRC banks and in general: there is such a democratic concept as the secret of a contribution, and therefore - if you want to arrest - arrest in your banks, if you find ...

Washington and Seoul, of course, hissed, but it didn’t get any further. But after the resolution, serious movements began to be observed in the country against which the resolution was directed. First, the people of North Korea themselves, and then the whole world learned that the North Korean authorities decided to withdraw the country from the agreements with South Korea on mutual non-aggression. In addition, the masses were told that the DPRK would annul the statement about the complete abandonment of the development of the nuclear program and break off absolutely all contacts with the southern neighbor down to the telephone line connecting the two states. These decisions were announced in a completely infernal tone by the announcer of the Central Technical Radio Center (Korea Central Telegraph Agency). The woman who read the information that the external aggressors were again plotting against the DPRK seemed literally on the air to rush out of the studio and show Seoul where the crayfish spend the winter ... However, she withheld ...

On Monday, South Korea, jointly with the United States, began military exercises called Key Resolve. About 3,5, thousands of troops, are involved in the exercises from the United States, South Koreans have deployed a 10-thousandth contingent. In addition, third countries will also join the teachings. In particular, participation of British, Australian, Canadian, Danish and even Colombian troops is expected.

According to the South Korean media, the exercises are aimed exclusively at maintaining security on the Korean Peninsula and are defensive (what else ...) character. This character they will wear right up to March 21, after which the commanders will report on the results and record how secure the peninsula is on the peninsula ...

The answer from Pyongyang to the begun teachings was immediately followed. The same female announcer again went on the air and with breathtaking expression, which many Russian contemporary actors cannot achieve, announced that the DPRK authorities and people are as united as ever and are ready to respond to the intrigues of the enemies even with a nuclear strike. Then Kim Jong-un's words sounded, quoted as a quote: “Seoul and Washington can turn into a sea of fire!” The North Korean press immediately picked up a wave and declared that the DPRK's army had a terrible weaponwith which she can respond to any provocation in her address.

The central print publication of the DPRK "Nodon Sinmun" is broken with angry articles about the aggressive behavior of the United States and South Korea in close proximity to the maritime border of the DPRK. Here is one of the quotes: “The United States of America, together with its South Korean puppets, intends to limit our state and our people in development, to stand in the way of the successes we have achieved under the leadership of our leaders. But our country is not going to serve the will of the enemies. Our fighters possess the most formidable weapons in the world, able to protect people from aggressive militarism. ”

As they say, explained their position more than intelligibly.

After a series of recriminations, claims and statements about 100% determination, the South Korean publications conducted an internal survey in 5 major cities of the country regarding the concern of the local population about the reality of the threats expressed by Pyongyang. So, it turns out that about two thirds of the South Koreans surveyed are confident that Kim Jong-un can take the most extreme step and deliver a nuclear strike on South Korea. Only about a quarter of respondents said that Pyongyang once again satisfied with information provocation and pressure.

If we consider statements about the threat of a nuclear launch on South Korea from the territory of the DPRK, then such statements from the north of the Korean Peninsula do not come for the first time. The previous leader of the DPRK, Kim Jong Il, promised to smash Seoul into chips at the time. It was connected with another crisis of bilateral relations and all the same sanctions against the DPRK. However, Kim's father did not go on to turn his belligerent promises into reality, for which North Korea won certain commodity indulgences from neighbors and a number of Western countries. Despite the fact that truly productive negotiations between the North and the South did not take place under Kim Jong-il, relations turned into a plane: “we are, as it were, refusing to strike a blow on you (South Korea), but from your side we are expecting product changes” . Well ... The progress really did not keep them waiting.

Exactly like this historical a precedent may occur this time if Washington and Seoul do not go too far with their teachings. If they shoot “quietly and peacefully” without hitting the adjacent waters and territories, then Kim Jong-un will slow down. And if he reduces it, then in exchange for “food parcels” from those who now, speaking in the lexical turn of the North Korean press, are on the way to the development of the North Korean state.

But is Seoul with Washington really not going too far? Is it really that the “accidental” artillery projectile will not be fired towards the “partners” from the north? If released, it will be a real provocation, even putting to brackets the fact that the DPRK with its nuclear tests and the stigma itself, let's say, into a cannon ... But with all the assurances about saving "world democracy" expressed by the United States, Washington is unlikely to decide now to take tough measures in the Far East. After all, at least three obstacles float to the surface. Firstly, the DPRK has some kind of nuclear weapons, but still, but in the USA they are no less afraid of them than in South Korea. Secondly, it is extremely risky to kindle another hotbed of chaos, and in the immediate vicinity of several of its key partners in Asia (South Korea and Japan). Thirdly, a big war (and definitely not a small one, and certainly victorious) will be costly, and there are plenty of them for the USA today and without this war.

Another thing is that now the United States can actively push its idea of deploying the Far Eastern missile defense system, which supposedly will protect all East Asian progressive humanity from the threat posed by the "rogue state." But this is a more likely scenario to continue the story. It turns out that with all the hysteria of Seoul and Washington about the North Korean nuclear tests, these very tests are very beneficial to the latter. Indeed, under the guise it is possible, sorry, to intercept missile defense both near the Chinese border and in close proximity to Russian borders. So in this case, the problem is not limited to the territory of the DPRK alone. The game, apparently, goes at larger rates ...

It is unlikely that there will be a war, and even a nuclear one. All this is limited to a torn agreement.

Well, 19 km of the border do not give anything. Even if it weren’t - no one canceled the clouds of radioactive fallout ...

Of course, the DPRK is not quite right - if you made a commitment without testing nuclear weapons, then do not test. What a kindergarten.
However, I think the DPRK still needs to be protected from the Americans with their sixes from Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Australia, ....

I totally agree. We need political pressure to leave the DPRK alone.
I remember the phrase "We are not like that, life is like that." For 50 years, a mattress with a puppet South Korea, and lackeys Japan, Taiwan, and others tried to bend the DPRK, shaking a nuclear club over it! They strangled with sanctions, threatened with an attack. And now North Korea, tightening its belt, malnourished, was able to create an army, navy, aviation, missiles that would oppose something to an external threat. And finally, she created a powerful nuclear argument!
Now the mattresses are afraid! Panic fear of the one whom they themselves pushed to the arms race!
        Paradox?!!...

Pulling the DPRK into a corner, the United States and its loyal satellites should understand that a war with a millionth army, albeit slightly armed, but very pumped up ideologically is quite difficult. And to do with little blood in such a war will not work out for sure. Yes, and it is very doubtful that China will allow trampling the DPRK.

The DPRK has a very developed nuclear missile program, and we should not forget about the presence of a millionth only personnel army (plus SIX million trained reservists). Such an army cannot be destroyed without nuclear weapons. So in case of war, mattresses and their satellites will suffer heavy losses. Do not forget about the unofficial support of China.
An interesting review of the weapons of the DPRK army here

The presence of a large army does not guarantee its effective use. For war, resources are needed, but the DPRK does not. DPRK for the war will not have enough of the already scarce fuel and lubricant reserves that exist. And how to feed millions of soldiers? Of course they are unpretentious, but without food there will be no sense from them, you can’t deceive the stomach with propaganda. So this army is a potential prisoner of war, the only hope of the Kim family is nuclear weapons. Everyone understands that the Kimans have nothing to lose, so their hand will not flinch to burn the whole country in a nuclear fire. This is what the whole world fears.

This is the real nuclear threat from the DPRK. If nuclear weapons, yes in finished form, appear in Iran ... But the North Koreans have nothing to lose. What "uncounted billions" are there in Chinese banks ... anyway, for the whole country it is hardly possible to buy food with them for even three months.
Modern agriculture in North Korea is impossible, there is no capacity for the production of fertilizers, there is no raw material for it. So - poverty.

The southerners were completely squeezed by sanctions, but they are alone, but they have no aggressive attacks except for a connection with North Korea. And North Korea was created by states, and there is a puppet government working in the interests of others. Do not bother them to understand their internal affairs! If it weren’t for the states in this region, there would have been peace for a long time and Korea mastered space and was engaged in science, but the United States is not profitable when there are independent states in the world, so they pour a gasoline into the fire and fuel conflicts!

      - But you need to understand. They want to live in their own system, why shouldn't they? They will begin to democratize and in every way to clamp down and tread. The determination of the North Koreans and their satellites to spit on amers can only be envied. For comparison, when a foreign journalist publicly called the State Duma the State Duma, and the Duma was ready to tear this journalist to shreds, it was the Kremlin who interceded - otherwise there would be no accusation of restricting freedom of speech. To insult official and legitimate authorities is, it turns out, freedom of speech. Or is it permissiveness? Let me remind you that the whip insulted the State Duma for responding to the Magnitsky Act, such as the correct Act, which pursues only the noble goal of curbing corruption in Russia, the State Duma responded by infringing on the rights of the children of its fellow citizens. And I add - recent events vividly showed that the State Duma did not infringe on the children, but, on the contrary, it saves from a fierce death, and Magnitsky is also the terry criminal who receives such a death in a cell - the most deserved punishment.
But what is a journalist? So he distorted beautifully. But the Kremlin is cowardly to crush the nits - not North-Caucasian, alas ...

"Is there really a need for a ground campaign, there are enough funds without it." - But, in the event of a conflict, it will definitely not do without a ground operation! The DPRK army is very numerous. Google it for fun ... Only 22 Special Forces Brigades! About 100 thousand !!! The term is from 5 to 12 years. The theater of war is well known. The terrain is mountainous and wooded. Aviation has nowhere to turn around - targets are difficult to distinguish. In Vietnam, at least the overwhelming air superiority did not help the amers. And, most importantly, the fanaticism of the North Koreans. They are not Arabs - you cannot buy them. And yet ... Considering the number of artillery systems and MLRS, the statements of the DPRK military about the "sea of fire" are not empty. No air defense will help here.

I only know one thing, that under the "current masters" South Korea is a rich, developed state where there have been no cases of cannibalism for a long time because of the mass famine of the type as it was, quite recently, in "capable" North Korea. The sooner the totalitarian regime of the NC collapses, the better it will be for everyone ... a half-starved, humanitarian aid, with an ineffective planned economy, a country under the rule of a dictator starving its citizens, and even with nuclear weapons

The North Koreans have been planning a bright future for 60 years. The South Koreans have a normal well-fed life in a developed country under the protectorate of the only superpower. And China is certainly not a friend of the United States, China is a US workshop and there will be no quarrel with its employers for nothing. And certainly China is not happy about the appearance of nuclear weapons in North Korean rogues

There are many things in the USA. As for the notorious "Bush legs", the United States supplies them mainly to third world countries. Americans themselves buy mainly white chicken meat. But even the wretched legs of Bush are just a fabulous gift to any starving North Korean family who are happy to build a bright communist future under the rule of the fat-faced fighter against imperialism, Kim Jong-un.

You bring a cliche here. In the 80th year, the whole world was just as sure that the USSR was starving and devastated. Proof of this is the empty store shelves, and my classmate, having visited VDNKh at the exhibition of amer goods, at the request of amers who promised chewing gum, hopped for a piece of bread. Amer esses fotkali this action. Mitskhel, the paradox is that in the USSR in the 80s there were fewer hungry people than the Amers themselves! We did not starve, and the counters were empty! Everything was in bags in the house. Was there not enough meat for two kilos for two rubles per kilo for your nose? They got to the market, where it was in the top five and there were no queues.
So I am not inclined to believe that everything is so bad in the DPRK. The DPRK itself produces practically the entire range of weapons, which is impossible without a developed industry. But this industry is not electronic. So what? I will find you a starving family in no time and in your vaunted America I will find. And examples please, when a single mother from the social service, on the basis of chicanery, "broke off" with an allowance, that single mother simply shot that specialist, then two children, and then herself. The threat of hunger is the reason, there is no other reason. This is your vaunted America in which

If the DPRK opens, people will begin to learn new things, patriotism will evaporate in a few years. Popov invented but for some reason the Russian Empire did not become a world leader in the field of radio communications and the production of radio receivers. But Marconi meanly stole Popov’s invention and profited from this laughing With Polzunov, the story is even funnier - the Anglo-Saxon bastards from the beginning of the 18th century moved to the future, stole the drawings of the engine half-back and returned and passed them off as their own. Apparently they also stole drawings of a time machine from an unknown Russian inventor.

As for the "Anglo-Saxon reptiles" and Polzunov, if you believe the WESTERN chronicles, the first car was created by the Spanish inventor Jeronimo Ayans de Beaumont.

S. P. Ivanov invented it and patented it. In 1960, he also invented a multi-lens camera, on the basis of which cinema equipment for integral stereoscopic shooting was developed.

It is important not who invented, who patented, but who made it so that after him the life of those around him changed. This is so - as a declaration.
Yes, Popov conducted experiments, but he conducted experiments based on the work of Hertz.
But the radio appeared on every ship and ship not thanks to them, but thanks to Marconi (and it was called in our fleet for a long time - Marconi).

If the two Koreas unite, the world will get a new superstate with a powerful southerner economy and a northerners ticket to the nuclear club. Its Koreans will quickly cash out and instead of "Gwangmyeongsons" falling apart at the start, they will create quite decent things. The situation in Korea is indeed very tense, and the cause of tension is the openly suicidal policy of South Korea. Logical and reasonable behavior of US-aspiring to maintain their influence in Korea and prevent peaceful unification of 2 Koreas. Logical is the policy of China, which also will not be happy about the emergence of a united Korea, and uses the North as an outpost against American influence. North Korean authorities also act in their interests.
But here the South Koreans are doing something crazy .... What can they achieve by driving the North into a corner with their policies? Only, at least, even greater unity of the leadership of the UK, and as a maximum of war.
And what will they get as a result of the war? The radioactive ruins of Seoul and the completely destroyed North Korea, coupled with a grand humanitarian disaster.
This will permanently delete Korea from the list of strong, developed countries.
The only thing that can be advised to the South Koreans is to stop being US puppets and start pursuing a policy in their own interests.

The whole action of North Korea and personally comrade Kim Jong-un can be understood ... After all, his country is surrounded on all sides by nuclear powers ... What remains for a small country to guarantee its security?

America over the past 20 years around the world has killed hundreds of thousands of civilians without nuclear weapons !!! And for some reason, all Western media are silent about this !!!

I think that, seeing this, many previously non-nuclear countries thought about creating their own nuclear bomb !!! Why, for example, can Israel have its own nuclear weapons and not commit itself to any treaties, but North Korea and Iran do not ??? It would be great if about a dozen small countries combined their efforts to create nuclear weapons !!! America would not be easy to control this option !!! After all, only a crushing retaliatory strike can stop the aggressor !!!

The events on the Korean Peninsula show that the United States is trying to destabilize the region - it did not work out with Iran, with Russia, too, with Syria, something dragged on - now they grabbed onto North Korea ... And by the way, these are the countries that George Bush named at one time "Axis of Evil" ... America is trying to remove the remnants of the sphere of influence of the former USSR because Russia is growing and may reappear in these regions !!!

In addition, around the world in the media there is a broad company to demonize the countries of the objectionable USA - they make some kind of narrow-minded fools from their leaders and scare everyone with some kind of different horror stories from the life of the peoples of these countries ...

Let them see better how their citizens live !!! How do Indians live on US reservations? Yes, they almost all died out there from such a "well-fed" life !!!

Do you really think that America will remain aloof from this conflict even if it is without the use of nuclear weapons? - if she already climbed there once on the very tomatoes !!!
Now North Korea is unlikely to be supported by China And Russia - and this, by the way, is one of the main reasons for developing nuclear weapons ...
Or do you propose that they be a nuclear-free country and wait peacefully while bombs of peace and freedom fall on their heads?

The reason is simple, there will be a new superstate with economic potential not much less than Japan. And this is a huge knife in the back of Kiyu in the form of an economic competitor. Milliaodes of money that they used to spend on the defense industry to get into the economy. Korea’s industry will come the most cheap labor in the form of workers from North Korea (CHEAPER THAN CHINA !!!!). Against the background of the fact that the rate of industrial growth in China is slowing sharply, a new competitor to China is not needed. I am not against the DPRK as a state, I am against the political system of this state, where millions of people are starving and living thanks to the help of the international community, the government spends billions on nuclear programs just to preserve Senov’s power !!!!!!!!!!!! And do not call the DPRK a free country, in a country in which power is transferred from father to son is called MONARCHY !!!

If you remove the nonsense, then there is nothing to answer. Indians are really starving, though because they are on diets. And so they embroider on Bentleys and live in mansions with swimming pools, and next to the house, on the lawn, there are wigwams worth from 1 million dollars. I think the concept of "Indian casinos" is as far away for you as the Korean War, since you do not know that it was the Sena who started the aggression in Korea. And now on the account of the starving Indians "As of 2004, the turnover of Indian gambling establishments reached $ 14 billion, revenues accounted for 34% of all gambling revenues in the US. In the state of California, under the control of seven Indian tribes, 55 casinos operated with an annual income of about $ 6 billion. In Philadelphia, Mississippi, the Choctaw Indians, with a total population of about 10, also operate several casinos, generating huge income. " And so on. The Indians began to open casinos on the territory of reservations. Redskins receive huge dividends from gambling houses. For example, Apaches from Arizona receive $ 3000 a month (plus a lot of federal aid !!!). Young Indians were given the opportunity to study at prestigious universities, the tribes give them money for training and pay solid scholarships. There are about 290 gambling establishments in the US Indian reservations. Casinos are a lucrative business, for example, California casinos alone bring Indians over $ 6 billion a year. In 2010, Indians earned about $ 12 billion from gambling, not including income from tourism and related infrastructure.
