'Complete nonsense': Boris Johnson continues to deny interference and breakdown of Russia-Ukraine talks

Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson continues to claim that he had nothing to do with the breakdown of the Russia-Ukraine talks in Istanbul in 2022. According to him, the decision to end the dialogue was allegedly made by Kyiv independently.
According to the former prime minister, he did not interfere in any way with the negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, although he did come to Kyiv at that time to support Zelensky. At the same time, he confirms that he assured Zelensky of the West's continued support for Ukraine.
This is complete nonsense. The Ukrainians would never have agreed to Putin’s terms. My job was not to derail the deal and not to derail Putin’s wonderful “peace plan”. My job was to reassure Zelensky of the support of the West, and above all the UK.
— Johnson says.
The Briton writes that France and Germany were in favor of peace between Ukraine and Russia even on the condition of losing part of Ukrainian territory, but he was “suspicious” about the proposed plan, because it would be a “catastrophe” for Zelensky and all of Ukraine. In general, feeling that the West’s plan was about to collapse and Ukraine would capitulate, Johnson simply told the Kyiv junta that Western countries would continue to supply weapon and give money for the war against Russia, but he did not interfere in the negotiations and did not disrupt anything.
