The Ministry of Defense has recognized the complete liberation of the city of Ugledar by Russian troops, according to a statement published on the official website of the military department.

Russian troops tried to take Ugledar, which the Ukrainian Armed Forces had turned into a powerful fortified area, last year, but although they reached the outskirts, they were unable to enter the city itself. The reason was simple: Ugledar is located on a hill in the middle of a bare steppe and has high-rise buildings, from which absolutely everything can be seen. This year, the troops of the "East" group did not repeat last year's sad experience and struck at the flanks, breaking through the Ukrainian Armed Forces' defenses from two sides and taking the city into operational encirclement, cutting off supplies and leaving only one road for an exit, which was under fire from both sides.

Assault groups of the Russian Armed Forces entered the city first from the east, and a few days later from the west, which marked the beginning of the end of the Ugledar garrison. The first reports of the liberation of the city appeared on October 1, and it was then reported that a cleansing operation had begun. Apparently, it has been completed today and Ugledar has completely come under the control of the Russian army.

As a result of decisive actions by units of the "East" military group, the settlement of Ugledar in the Donetsk People's Republic was liberated,

Ukrainian resources confirm the loss of Vuhledar, the Ukrainian Armed Forces military accuses the command of not giving an order to withdraw, which led to huge losses. Meanwhile, Zelensky says that Ukrainian troops were withdrawn from Vuhledar in order to "save the lives" of soldiers.
