Israel admits 'first officer casualty' in clashes with Hezbollah
33
The IDF command, which previously stated that "the ground operation in Lebanon has not yet begun," is now publishing information about losses among Israeli soldiers. In particular, it acknowledges "the first loss of an officer."
We are talking about Captain Eitan Ulster, who commanded one of the units of the IDF's 89th Brigade.
Israeli sources say that Captain Ulster was a serviceman of the Egoz special forces unit. This unit of the Israeli army specializes in counter-insurgency, special operations, and sabotage work.
Some Middle Eastern sources write that Captain Ulster and several other soldiers of the Egoz special forces unit were killed in a Hezbollah strike in northern Israel, while others claim that Hezbollah ambushed Israeli special forces in Lebanon. It is difficult to say where the truth lies, especially given that both of these states essentially do not recognize each other's borders in the "contact" area.
Let us recall that earlier Israel began bombing Lebanese cities, and not only the southern regions of this country. The IDF Air Force is striking both the capital and the territories north of Beirut. In the last week alone, at least 230 thousand refugees were forced to move from Lebanon to Syria. It is noteworthy that earlier most of these people fled to Lebanon from the war in the SAR.
