'This is a declaration of war': Israel responds to Iran missile attack with promise of 'unprecedented response'
162
Iran attacked Israel in response to Israeli killings of Hamas, Hezbollah and Revolutionary Guard leaders in Lebanon. Iran's IRGC issued its first statement since the missile attack, warning Israel that Tehran would launch a more devastating strike if it retaliated.
Iran has long delayed striking Israel amid statements from the US and Europe promising a cessation of hostilities if Tehran renounces the attack. But as recent events have shown, not a single promise has been kept, and Israel has not only failed to cease fire, but has also launched an invasion of Lebanon. As Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has previously stated, US and European promises of a ceasefire in exchange for Iran's renunciation of retaliatory actions are a lie.
The IRGC targeted important military and security installations in the center of the occupied territories. This operation was carried out with the approval of the Supreme National Security Council and the notification of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, with the support of the Islamic Republic of Iran Army and the Ministry of Defense. Israel has been warned that if it responds militarily to this legitimate operation, it will face further devastating and destructive attacks.
- said in a statement.
Meanwhile, Israel has already issued a response statement warning Iran of an "unprecedented response."
This is a declaration of war, an unprecedented response is expected.
— the Israeli Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
