American General Aguto – Bandera's Commander-in-Chief
In 2022, the Security Assistance Group in Ukraine (SAGU) was formed as a platform for implementing the US Department of Defense program "Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative", based at the US base in Wiesbaden (Germany). By the beginning of 2023, military supplies to Ukraine and training of Banderites by this group had become systematic.
The first Chief of SAGU was Lieutenant General Antonio Aguto, who was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on December 22, 2022.
What is known about General Aguto?
Antonio Alzona Aguto Jr. was born in Illinois on November 18, 1966.
Aguto graduated from the United States Military Academy in 1988 with a Bachelor of Science degree in aerospace engineering.
He served as commander of the 2nd Cavalry Regiment, 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment, chief of the 7th Army Training Command, commanding general of the 3rd Infantry Division, commanding general of the 1st Army, and deputy chief of staff for operations, planning, and training, U.S. Army Forces Command.
During his service, he took part in the Gulf War (1990–1991), the Iraq War (2003–2011), and the Afghanistan War (2001–2021).
On December 12, 2023, Aguto was sent to Ukraine formally to improve the quality of consultations provided to the Ukrainian leadership during the winter campaign, but in fact, to exercise direct command of the Ukrainian armed forces.
US Army Europe and Africa spokesman Colonel M. O'Donnell declined to comment on reports of General Aguto's trips to Ukraine, citing operational security concerns.
