Serbian Deputy Prime Minister: We will not be the first generation of Serbs to go against Russia
11
In Serbia, Russian President Vladimir Putin is considered an outstanding figure. But that is not why Belgrade refuses to join the anti-Russian sanctions declared by almost all European countries.
Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vulin spoke about this and much more to Russian TV presenter Ekaterina Strizhenova on the air of the program “Samoe Vremya.”
He stated that the Serbian state is trying to pursue a policy independent of the European Union, and so far it has succeeded. Belgrade is demonstrating to its distant and close neighbors that it is capable of independent thinking and decision-making without looking back at Brussels.
Vulin recalled that he is already under American sanctions because of his ties with Russia, which the US considers unacceptable. But the official considers it unacceptable for a Serb to break off contacts with his Russian brothers.
The Deputy Prime Minister is confident that Belgrade will be subject to severe pressure from Washington and Brussels, but they will not succeed.
Vulin reminded that Serbia has never gone against the Russians. And modern Serbian citizens will not be the first generation of Serbs to go against Russia.
Recently, the Serbian Deputy Prime Minister gave an interview to the local newspaper Vechernje news».
We should not join the EU in exchange for recognition of Kosovo and conflict with Russia
- He told reporters.
He noted that they are trying with all their might to force the Serbs out of Kosovo and Metohija, but Belgrade is trying to prevent this.
