Russian specialists have developed a universal armored platform "Tor" for use in the Air Defense Forces

The photo is illustrative

Russian specialists have completed the development of a new robotic armored platform "Tor". This was reported by the Bauman Moscow State Technical University.

The new wheeled platform, unlike its analogues, has armor that can withstand bullets and shell fragments. The drive is combined, consisting of an electric motor and a diesel generator. The suspension is independent, the cruising range is 200 km. With its own weight of 5 tons, "Thor" is capable of carrying a payload of 1,2 tons. The platform itself is designed as a universal one, it can be used as a delivery vehicle, as well as a combat vehicle with an installed combat module with a large-caliber machine gun. The module is equipped with target acquisition and tracking technology, fire can be conducted in remote control mode.

Basically, it's a mule that will carry whatever you need to the designated point. If things start exploding around you, in most cases, it will survive.

- lead "News" words of the representative of Bauman Moscow State Technical University.

Work on the Tor platform began two years ago, and it is currently at the testing stage, following which a decision will be made on sending it for trial operation.

According to experts, the Tor platform has very good potential, but final conclusions will be made based on the results of its operation in the SVO zone.

    new robotic armored platform "Thor"
Couldn't they come up with another name? Apparently, to confuse everyone, both the enemy and their own. And what kind of "barrel" is in the photo? A water gun? Did they conduct a shooting test?

Judging by the huge sighting windows, there is some doubt about this.

And how many of these 5 tons are traction batteries?

The photo is illustrative and has nothing to do with TOR!

What don't you like about Thor? laughing A surface of revolution obtained by rotating a generating circle around an axis lying in the plane of this circle and not intersecting it.

Yes, because there is already a SAM system with that name.

I suspect that the photo shows the recently advertised ship "Narwhal". It looks very similar.

Marine versions of such "analogues" usually differ from "land" versions only in the anti-corrosion coating, which is supposedly resistant to sea water.

There was the Uranus family, armed to the teeth, etc. Apparently everyone forgot about them and are standing in space.
in essence, there was a "ready-made" platform, but apparently not quite ready))

It would be better if they put more effort into Arena-M

This is all secondary, it would be better if they learned to make domestic motors for UAVs and microprocessors, and anyone can assemble this crap from Chinese components

The drive is combined and consists of an electric motor and a diesel generator.

Did you bring it from China?

and how did you guess? (joke)
no, we have import substitution all around us, and we've learned to stick our own signs on

About a year and a half or two ago, something similar (judging by the photo) flashed on the pages of VO, a cross between a motorized MT-LB and a naval 2M-3.

hmm... I found this "TOR" on the net - it doesn't look like the photo at all(

The complex includes a development of the Bauman Moscow State Technical University - an armored platform of the BR4 class - a wheeled chassis with a hybrid-diesel power plant, optical-electronic surveillance and communication equipment, and a remote control and monitoring panel.
The platform can be equipped with a sound and light intruder warning system, as well as a combat module with the ability to capture and track a target and fire in remote control mode. Control is carried out via a radio channel or an optical communication line up to 2000 meters long.

Judging by the text and photo you provided, this is not an army car, but a police car.

          Yes maybe
The publication above says roughly the same thing - the platform is designed as universal
It can be used as a delivery vehicle, as well as a combat vehicle with an installed combat module.

          Unified chassis with interchangeable equipment

Another "miracle of engineering thought". When will all these Kulibins stop inventing a "bicycle with square wheels" and start developing something that is really needed? It would be better if they started developing an automatic anti-aircraft machine gun turret for installation on tanks and infantry fighting vehicles with the ability to fight UAVs instead of the standard and completely ineffective machine guns. Capitalism - damn it.
