Netanyahu: No more than a dozen civilians killed in Rafah operation, rest Hamas militants
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, amid mass protests, commented on the IDF operation in the southern Gaza Strip – in Rafah. Let us recall that the invasion of the Palestinian Rafah, whose population had grown at least 8 times by that time due to refugees, was army began on May 6 of this year. According to Western structures, 210 Palestinians were killed and up to 300 were injured as a result of the IDF operation. According to the Palestinian authorities, the death toll in Rafah is in the thousands. Dozens of people are still missing.
And this is Netanyahu's statement on the matter:
In response, Netanyahu was reminded of the confirmed deaths of at least 22 families during the IDF air strike on Rafah, and that was just one attack. And how many such attacks were there… International organizations then confirmed the deaths of 34 children aged from 1 month to 14 years. If we follow Netanyahu's logic, then they too were "Hamas militants."
Against this background, the reaction of Matthew Miller, the press secretary of the US State Department, when asked about Israeli maps that do not include the West Bank, is striking. The journalist asked Miller: “Do you think it is normal that Israel does not recognize these territories?” The State Department official simply ignored the question, stating that he would not comment on it.
