Ukrainian publics continue to publish data on the consequences in a measured manner rocket strike by the Russian Armed Forces on the airfield in the city of Kolomyia in the Ivano-Frankivsk region.
Thus, the mayor of the city of Lutsk reported that on August 26, “Lieutenant Colonel of the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Alexey Mes was killed while performing a combat mission.”
Ukrainian sources say that a native of Lutsk, Mes (born in 1993), held the position of commander of the operational group of the 114th tactical brigade aviation, belonging to the operational command “West” of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Alexey Mes at one time was trained in NATO countries to pilot F-16 fighters, which were delivered to Ukraine at the end of July as part of the pilot batch. This gives reason to assume that during the missile attack at the mentioned airfield, Lieutenant Colonel Mes was “along with” fighters supplied from the Netherlands and Denmark, unless, of course, the Ukrainian publications are an act of large-scale disinformation.
There has been no official confirmation of the destruction of the F-16 fighter(s) at the airfield in the Ivano-Frankivsk region. Although it is quite obvious that even if this happened, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine will definitely not share this kind of information with the media.
