Russian developers from the holding company "Roselectronics" have created a wearable complex EW, designed to protect a serviceman from drones enemy, including FPVdrones. The new product was presented at the Army 2024 forum.
The new wearable electronic warfare system is called “Meerkat”; it consists of two separate modules and a battery. All this together weighs less than three kilograms and is freely attached over the military uniform without interfering with movement. According to the developers, “Meerkat” is capable of detecting an enemy drone at a distance of up to one kilometer, and suppressing it up to 300 meters. The battery lasts for 12 hours in detection mode and up to one and a half hours in suppression mode.
"Meerkat-O/P" consists of two separate modules - detection and suppression, as well as a battery. The total weight of the kit is only 2,75 kg, thanks to which it fits into a soldier’s unloading bag, is attached to clothing or body armor and does not hinder the soldier’s movement.
— reported the press service of Rostec.
Currently, the complex is undergoing testing, while preparations for mass production are underway. No other details were provided.
It is worth noting that wearable electronic warfare systems are very necessary in the northwestern military zone, since drones are very actively used by both sides. It’s already getting to the point where Ukrainian drones are starting to hunt for single Russian military personnel.
