Submachine gun Bison in all its manifestations

30

Probably, there is no better-known domestic submachine gun than the Bison, the huge capacity of auger shop by the standards of PP literally overshadows the mind and no longer even thinks about how reliably the auger shop feeds cartridges and how to equip it with these same cartridges. More than double the store's capacity weapons in comparison with other samples, not the biggest dimensions, external similarity with all known Kalashnikovs - these are the reasons for the high popularity of these weapons and it would be unforgivable to bypass them without knowing more about them.

It’s probably worth starting with the fact that I had a chance to get acquainted with the weapon personally, and with the “killed” in the trash the sample and the new, slightly used, from here I think I have the right to draw certain conclusions about the reliability of this sample. The fact is that usually the main disadvantage of this submachine gun is considered to be just his screw shop, the reliability of which is being questioned. I personally had no problems with the new weapon, although there was no opportunity to become more comfortable and take a hold, and then release the 64х9 cartridge in a long line all 18, and there was a desire to check the software. However, the short bursts of the submachine gun was transferred to the 5, no problems arose with either the first or the last ammunition from the magazine. With the pattern beaten by life, everything was not so smooth. Failures occurred, occurred due to the fault of the store, which was especially noticeable on the last cartridges, apparently the problem was in the spring of the store. Equipment shop does not cause any problems, but how long this procedure takes place. In terms of accuracy and accuracy of the weapon, both samples were approximately the same, but conclusions cannot be drawn here, since the fire was fired at a distance of 100 meters. The weapon has a recoil, but it is very small, the reason is in the 9x18 cartridge, and the mass of the weapon itself also plays an important role. By the way, if it were not for the weight and balance of the submachine gun that was pushed forward, it would have been possible to control the weapon and wastefully in Hollywood with one hand, but in fact it turns out to be quite problematic, so it’s impossible to count on effective shooting, but effective it is possible. In other words, if you follow the weapon and take care of it, it will not let you down, but the sediment that the box store is still safer remains, it is still time tested, albeit with a smaller capacity while maintaining reasonable dimensions.

Designed a submachine gun Bizon was the sons of the famous gunsmiths V.M. Kalashnikov, D.G. Dolganov, A.E. Dragunov and S.D. Gorbunov. The emphasis in the design of weapons was done on the impossible - the maximum compatibility of elements with a Kalashnikov assault rifle, despite the fact that the weapon should have turned out to be a completely different class and according to a completely different pattern of operation of automation. As a result of the work, the sons of gunsmiths proved that genes solve everything, just like cadres, and successfully coped with the task, since the submachine gun itself is more than half a Kalashnikov assault rifle. First of all, it is noticeable in the appearance of the weapon, which seems familiar and familiar to everyone, which in essence is such, since all the controls were stored in their AK locations, and the receiver was borrowed from there with minor changes. In general, there are a lot of variants of the Bison submachine gun, we will try to briefly go through all of them, including those that did not go into mass production.

The first version of the Bison submachine gun, from the more common variants already in the second version, looks different in that it has a brown plastic pistol grip, while all subsequent samples already had a black grip. In fact, the first version of the submachine gun was pre-series, which showed that the weapon can and what does not. The common common name for the already-produced Bison-2 submachine gun is often referred to as a common name for all submachine guns of this family, but in fact it is a separate pattern, which is designed for using 9X18PM and 918PMM cartridges. All other samples were created on its basis. Bison-2B represents all the same Bison-2, but with the ability to install a silent shooting device. The Bison-2-01 submachine gun version is an adaptation of the weapon for the 9x19 cartridge, the Bison-2-02 modification is already designed for the 9X17 ammunition, while the possibility of automatic fire in it is retained. A variant of the submachine gun, which has the numbers 03 at the end of its name, is a weapon chambered for the 9х18, with a silent-firing device that is integrated into the design of the submachine gun. Options 04, 05, 06 are, in fact, self-loading carbines chambered for 9x18, 9x19 and 9x17, respectively, and cannot fire automatic fire. The most interesting, in my opinion, version of the Bison-2 submachine gun is the version for 7,62x25 TT cartridges, although in this case, instead of the auger magazine, the 32 cartridge-type magazine is used, and a plastic forearm is installed on the weapon itself. The version of the Bison-3 submachine gun, which has a butt no longer thrown off to the side of the AKS74U, but folding up, stands out separately. Also, his sights were replaced with a diopter pillar and a front sight from the AK and, most importantly, the shutter handle was placed on top of the weapon. The implication was that this submachine gun would be further developed, as well as the Bison-2, but the Vityaz "breakaway" PP actually killed its progenitor, although it can be considered a further development of the Bison submachine gun, which is very close to the truth.

Despite the external similarity and a large number of identical parts with a Kalashnikov assault rifle, the Bison submachine gun works on a slightly different principle, namely, its automation is built on a free gate, rather than using powder gases discharged from the barrel in the gas engine. The normal position of the shutter before the shot is the most forward one, but there are no additional devices for reducing the shutter speed except for its mass and the return spring.

The weight of the various variants of the Bison submachine gun varies from 2,7 to 2,9 kilograms without ammunition, plus a curb magazine with a little more than one kilogram is added to it, so the weapon for the submachine gun is heavy enough by modern standards, but such is the charge for reasonable dimensions and a large the capacity of the store. The length of the barrel of weapons from 225 to 230 millimeters, the rate of fire from 680 to 750 shots per minute. The length with the butt spread out is 690 millimeters, with the folded 460 millimeters. The capacity of auger magazine chambered for cartridges 9x18 - Cartridge 64, for cartridges 9x19 - Cartridge 53.

Unfortunately, despite all its advantages, the Bison submachine gun was not the end result. Despite the rather large capacity of the store, the weapon therefore had a significant drawback in the form of a large weight for the PP, so it is not surprising that the Bison Vityaz created on the basis of the submachine gun became more popular, and it was the bet that was made lately. In more detail with the submachine gun Vityaz can be found here in this article.

They expected that they would come to us ... they didn’t wait. And the last PPs took ... fucking nurgaliyev ... but I don’t agree about the weight! The Jewish PP has an ultrasound weight of more than 4 kg, but no reliability. For the city and buildings .Use the same mattress covers in Iraq PPSH. Accuracy, accuracy, capacity, reliability. Even saliva flowed. wink

so the weapon for the submachine gun is quite heavy by modern standards

Heaviness is good. Heaviness is reliable. Even if it doesn’t shoot, you can always hit it on the head.

      good
accuracy will be better for one, the heavier the less impact from moving parts and recoil

good + I heard that you need a machine to equip a store? request Probably because of the complexity, the Knight appeared with a horn. They also made augers, but immediately they crafted a cunning insert under the horn. In general, all the same, the cartridge is rather weak PMovsky. Although it is good, it is weak, especially for PP.

Nope you manually spring up like a disk store.
The cartridges in the magazine are located parallel to its axis, in a spiral, bullets forward, and are fed separately cocked by a spring, which allows you to store magazines equipped with cartridges, but with an unloaded spring. If necessary, the spring is cocked by a rotating handle at the front end of the store.

In general, weapons with auger shops have not received much recognition anywhere. Perhaps due to the excessive complexity of the store and its lack of reliability.

      27 February 2013 14: 32
There is more likely not because of the complexity, the device store simpler shovels in fact, but in the repair of the same cost a little more. For 1-10 devices, this is acceptable, and when there are several thousand of them, this is all in a serious amount.

What can I say, the main pros and cons of this software come down to the store. The auger magazine is heavier than the horn, but the capacity is 2 times higher, it is more convenient to water with fire. But it is more difficult to carry spare shops with you, since the weight is larger and the dimensions. Depending on the situation, this store can be either a plus or a minus. The thought begs, why not make a bison with 2 food options. I also slipped the thought that the advantage in a larger store gives a plus only when shooting in long bursts. If you shoot in short bursts and with breaks between these bursts (leaned out from behind the shelter, gave a couple of short bursts and hid), then in this version the broom store, if it has an advantage over the horn, is insignificant, that is, the practical rate of fire will not differ much. In addition, it seems to me that changing a horn is faster than a screw magazine.

Why is this? The same PCA was able to use both the disk and the horn. Let's say a fighter goes to clean a large building. Initially, the auger magazine was connected, as there are more rounds of ammunition in it, burst into the room, poured everything on fire, and in order not to bother with reloading, the empty auger unfastened, and already fastened its horn, so I think it's faster.

If my memory doesn’t fail, the PCA with disks and horns had a different store receiver and, accordingly, were not compatible.

it has one more advantage - compactness. which contributes to the secrecy of wearing. because auger store does not advocate for the dimensions of the weapon

And what is easier to equip a PCA disk ... ??? But they still use it. It is convenient as a personal weapon for the crews of various machines ... especially with the PMM cartridge.

Yes, it is convenient, but the horn also has its advantages. For example, the weight of the equipped magazine for the Vityaz software, according to my calculations, will not exceed 500 g- (the weight of the PM cartridge in different versions is 10-11 grams + the case of the store itself + spring + feeder) In terms of weight and capacity, 1 screw is approximately equal to 2 spanners (screw a bit heavier, 2 horns have 4 cartridges less) but 2 horns are more convenient to carry with you, as it seems to me.

Having in warehouses even PPSh to "invent" this? Amers in Afghanistan put a collimator on the PCA and say that a super machine is needed for sweeping operations in the city! Well, if you really need a modern submachine gun, buy a license for the FN P90, switch to domestic ammunition (or set up the production of his native 5,7 × 28 mm) and you will be happy. Or (which is preferable) do something really modern and comfortable - I'm sure there are talented designers in Russia, it's just that they are not always the children of famous gunsmiths. And "Bison" - sawing the dough ... Monster, accuracy like a shotgun ... And there are still less cartridges in the auger magazine than in the PPSh disk ...

    Amers - "Calico" M100 caliber 5.6 mm (.22LR), magazines 100 and 50, screw
Well, and of course P-90-50patrons, auger, 5.7 mm

Well, here the man had in mind the options for weapons with increased store capacity. And by the way about Р90, now I’m cons for minuses for criticizing my favorite weapon, but it still seems to me that the version with a screw shop is somewhat simpler than the mechanism that will rotate the cartridge before firing in all planes with very high speed laughing Yes, and instead of the screw you can always put a box, and instead the handguard. So no, Р90 seems to me not the best option, even with perfect quality of production. request

Kaliko appeared in the 1991m. Bison - in 1993. Is it 2 years - many years?
Next up is ergonomics. Here the difference is like heaven and earth. The bison became famous for its ergonomics. Its auger blended as “cast” into the structure. Kaliko is a purely outlandish little thing.
The bison is also a kind of masterpiece - they made a pp from a machine with 60% unification. This does not often work.
