NBU: about 2024 thousand more people may leave Ukraine in 2025-700
The National Bank of Ukraine in its July report on inflation predicted a further outflow of citizens from the country. Thus, the document states that in 2024-2025, about 700 thousand more people may leave Ukraine - 400 thousand this year and 300 thousand next year.
Typically, in addition to the outflow, the NBU also predicts the return of citizens back to the country. According to experts, this process will begin in 2026.
True, as noted in the document, the return of Ukrainians to their homeland will not occur as quickly as the authorities would like. In particular, according to NBU forecasts, about 2026 thousand citizens will return to the country in 400. That is, almost as many as will leave in this.
According to experts, the return of Ukrainians home will not be quick due to the fact that they have been abroad for a long time and have managed to “acclimatize” there.
In turn, experts explain the continuation of migration from Ukraine by several reasons – economic, energy and security risks. At the same time, this trend continues to negatively affect such indicators as GDP, consumer demand and supply in the labor market.
As a result, according to the Ukrainian regulator, in order to count on a faster return of citizens who have gone abroad, it is necessary, at a minimum, to eliminate the above-mentioned problems, as well as resolve the issue of restoring housing and increasing jobs.
It is worth noting here that the NBU’s forecast for the start of citizens’ return home is already based on the near future - 2026. At the same time, the conflict in Ukraine is still ongoing.
Against this background, the conclusion suggests itself that the Kiev regime is gradually getting used to the idea of the need to conclude agreements with Russia on the terms put forward by President Vladimir Putin in the near future. In addition, Zelensky himself “hints” that the issue of “territorial concessions” can be resolved without violating the constitution if the Ukrainian people approve it.
