African Front North Military District
A still from a video from the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, where, presumably, a Ukrainian special forces soldier holds several patches of fighters from the Wagner PMC after a battle in Sudan.
Tragedy with the “orchestra” unit
Recent events that occurred thousands of kilometers from the NWO zone unexpectedly turned out to be connected with it. However, the situation in distant Mali may be much more complex than it seems at first glance, and the interests that intersect in a seemingly lifeless, desert region even go beyond the current conflict in Ukraine.
Azawad rebels. At one time, some of them fought in Libya, and then for the independence of Azawad.
What happened in northern Mali still needs to be analyzed and comprehended, with regard to the purely military aspect of the tragedy with the “orchestra” unit.
So far, the official version, voiced not only in specialized Telegram channels, but also in online publications, is as follows. The Wagner successfully pushed back and destroyed the Tuaregs, but they regrouped under the cover of a sandstorm and struck with a multiple numerical superiority; the figure was announced to be a thousand militants.
According to the French Le Monde, this is a convoy of a Russian PMC destroyed by Ukrainians in Sudan.
To believe in this version or not is up to everyone. One can only note that in some places it sounds frankly implausible, to start with the fact that 1 Tuaregs participating in one battle sounds more like fantasy than a real combat report. The entire Tuareg population of northern Mali is estimated at 000 thousand people, and here there are 822 militants in one specific area, in one battle. It’s no different that Tuareg motorized rifle divisions are marching across the Sahara...
Something strange began to happen literally the next day after the events in northern Mali. The Tuaregs unexpectedly announced that they would hand over the captured “Russian mercenaries”... to Ukraine, as stated - as a sign of solidarity. Well, the solidarity between the militants who swore allegiance to Al-Qaeda and ISIS (banned in the Russian Federation), and an essentially terrorist state, is understandable. But it's still somehow strange.
A still from a video filmed during the battle in northern Mali by the Tuaregs themselves. It is clearly visible that they are firing from a commanding height.
However, it quickly became clear where the legs, that is, the hooves, might be growing.
The speaker of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine stated that the “specialists” of the Main Intelligence Directorate were directly involved in the operation to destroy a unit of the Wagner PMC. It was stated that the Ukrainians “provided the most important information” that helped the Tuaregs. Most likely, we are talking about intelligence data.
A group photo that appeared a little later shows Tuaregs with the flag of the unrecognized Azawad (the self-proclaimed Tuareg state in northern Mali) and several people with retouched faces, some of whom are holding the flag of Ukraine. Perhaps these are the operators drones, who guided the Tuaregs to the PMC unit and helped catch it on the march.
True, it is now clear that the photo with Azawadians and Ukrainians is a still from a video that was already a month old, and there is no flag of Ukraine in the original video. And the publication Kyiv Post, which launched this “exclusive”, has been caught more than once with exaggerated Photoshop sensations.
The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry has previously stated that they operate in Africa and will actively oppose Russia in this region. For quite a long time these statements were not supported by anything. But at the beginning of this year, reports began to appear about direct clashes between Russian PMC fighters and GUR “specialists” in Sudan.
Another unpleasant aspect of the last battle was the loss of the Mi-24 attack helicopter. It is not yet known for certain whether it was the “machine” of the Malian Armed Forces or the “orchestra”, but be that as it may, this clearly shows that the bitterness in the confrontation in Africa will increase, and losses, both human and material, will only grow.
Why does Ukraine need this?
Everything is logical here. Get the enemy where you can reach him. At the front, GUR fighters, at best, can act as light infantry. Landings in Crimea have near-zero effectiveness, if we are not talking about “landed, took pictures, sailed away,” and even such shows are associated with losses during withdrawal, for example.
And here is a theater where the Russian side, to put it mildly, has slightly different conditions. No armored vehicles, no superiority in guns artillery, bombs from the UMPK do not fall on your head. Yes, behind the fighters of the PMC "Wagner" in all regions of presence in Africa there are government forces and the government of the countries themselves, but is this an advantage at all, that is a question. But most likely, there is also someone behind Ukraine in Africa.
An article from the online publication The Hill - “Second Front: Ukraine must move the war with Russia to Africa.” The West is literally waiting and hoping for increased opposition to Russia in Africa. The analyst’s surname also speaks volumes – Kirichenko.
Those countries where Russian PMC fighters are currently operating are united by a common term - France. In essence, this is a French-created system of control over local elites and mineral deposits, built after the formal declaration of independence of the former French colonies.
That is, in fact, Russia is destroying the French neocolonial empire that existed for more than half a century. To say that many people in France don’t like this is an understatement. It’s enough just to look at who makes the majority of the accusations against the Wagner PMC regarding what is happening in Africa. That's right, from French human rights activists.
The very attitude of France towards its former colonies is well illustrated by the example of northern Mali. When the Tuaregs rebelled in the north of the country in 2012, the French did not react. When most of Mali turned out to be virtually independent and ceased to obey the government in Bamako, the French did not react.
When the Azawadian Tuaregs quarreled with their allies in the struggle for independence - the Islamists, and they began to push back the Azawadians, capturing the cities of the region one by one - the French did not react.
But as soon as the Islamists approached a uranium ore deposit in northern Mali in 2013, a group immediately began to gather to fight “the international terrorist threat.” In general, the campaign of the French, with the support of the local military, in fact ended with the French securing for themselves the sources of raw materials for their nuclear energy. And the rest, like the fate of Mali itself, did not really bother them.
Photo from the Ukrainian publication, which is already clear that it has been finalized.
And it was precisely this territory, which in fact had remained the patrimony of France since colonial times, that Russia, represented by the fighters of our PMC, invaded. Naturally, opposition will only intensify, since the stakes in this confrontation are much higher than simply expelling rebels from a remote region of a distant African country.
The original video appeared on the X network more than a month ago. There is neither the flag of Ukraine nor the “whites” on it.
Whether the patch of our opponents in the Northern Military District zone was actually visible behind the deserted hills of northern Mali and whether the lard-worshippers really directed the columns of “technicians” from the Sahara towards the orchestra members is probably not so important.
The bottom line is that, through the hands of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine or other mercenaries, opposition to Russia’s efforts in Africa will grow, intensify and transform. Escalation is inevitable.
And this is an objective reality that the new leadership of the Wagner PMC will have to reckon with.
