Russian reconnaissance officers and SOF fighters operating at the forefront in the Northern Military District zone will be armed with a new light vehicle developed specifically for these purposes. The head of the Argo company, Konstantin Bagdasarov, spoke about this.
The new vehicle, called "Vityaz", is based on the UAZ 469 and is equipped with a 100 hp diesel engine. The vehicle is protected by a system EW "Wavebreaker". It is proposed to install anti-aircraft machine gun mounts paired with a large-caliber KPVT machine gun as armament. The advantages of the "Vityaz" are its running characteristics and ease of maintenance.
When creating the Vityaz project, we proceeded primarily from the desire to make a lightweight, easy-to-handle vehicle, which would at the same time have a powerful, high-torque diesel engine and would be protected by such an effective modular electronic warfare system as the Breakwater for our fighters from reconnaissance groups and forces special operations operating in the Northern Military District zone,
As of today, the first prototype of the car has almost been assembled; in the near future it will go to the test site, where it will undergo comprehensive tests.
Earlier, the Argo company announced the development of the Saracen maneuverable all-terrain platform, designed specifically for special operations.
