At the EU summit, new decisions were made on military support for Ukraine and tightening anti-Russian sanctions

The European Union summit held in Brussels expectedly ended with the adoption of decisions to increase military assistance to Ukraine and tighten economic sanctions against our country. In addition, decisions were made to increase defense spending by European states themselves.
The European Council has called for the supply of new batches of ammunition to Ukraine, missiles, as well as air defense systems. Accordingly, new financial investments will be required from the EU member states. The head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, warned that another 500 billion euros will have to be added to the defense spending of European countries in the next ten years.
At the same time, European countries have not reached a consensus on the issue of allocating a $50 billion loan to Ukraine from the proceeds from the frozen assets of the Russian Federation. Many countries oppose such a decision, rightly fearing the consequences of such a brazen appropriation of other people's property. And this is not only a reaction from Moscow, but also a possible withdrawal of assets from European countries by non-Western states.
Also at the summit, a decision was made to develop a new regime of anti-Russian sanctions. This time sanctions will be imposed for certain “destabilizing activities” of the Russian Federation abroad. It came from the European Union and Georgia, which seems to have always been perceived as one of the West’s key partners in the post-Soviet space.
Tbilisi was reminded that the process of admission to the European Union may be suspended due to the adoption of the law on foreign agents. Let us recall that many Western countries have very strict legislation regarding foreign agents, but Western countries do not allow Georgia to have its own law regulating this area.
