In January 2023, Warsaw purchased 116 M1A1 Abrams tanks in the FEP version from the American army for $1,2 billion, of which almost $200 million was covered by the American side in the form of military assistance. These vehicles were previously in service with the Marines, but were withdrawn from the Marine Corps due to the abolition of tank units in the corps.
M1A1 included. Next in line are the most modern M1A2 SEP v.3 tanks
the military department said in a statement.
250 M1A2 SEP v.3 units were purchased in April 2022. The cost of the transaction, including auxiliary equipment, amounted to $4,75 billion. These MBTs are created in the USA by modernizing the M1A1 from the existing fleet. Their deliveries are scheduled to begin at the end of 2024 and should be completed in 2026.
At the same time, starting from December 2022, shipment of K2 Black Panther tanks purchased from South Korea in the amount of 180 units has been underway. According to the contract dated August 2022, Warsaw paid $3,37 billion for them. Deliveries of K2 should be completed in 2025.
