Russia is ready at any time to begin negotiations to end the conflict in Ukraine, but it will not stop the special operation. This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
The head of the Russian Foreign Ministry spoke to students at the Academy of Management under the President of Belarus. Speaking about possible peace negotiations, Lavrov noted that Russia is ready to sit down at the negotiating table at any time, but will not stop the North Military District at this time. According to him, Moscow has negative experience in 2022, when Kyiv took advantage of a pause in hostilities to regroup troops.
We said: we will always be ready for peace negotiations, but during the negotiations we will not stop the special military operation. We have already had this experience; we have been deceived, as happened in April 2022.
- said Lavrov.
Moscow has repeatedly stated that if negotiations on Ukraine begin, it will only be on Russian terms; the West with its ultimatums can go through the motions. The conditions were recently announced by the Russian president, they are quite simple: recognition of Crimea, DPR, LPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions as Russian regions at the international level, lifting of sanctions from Russia, complete demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine, which is also becoming bloc-free and nuclear-free. If the West and Ukraine refuse these conditions, the next ones will be even tougher.
According to the Kremlin, the proposed conditions are still in effect.
