“To demonstrate strength”: the US Navy sent the nuclear submarine USS Helena (SSN-725) to Cuba

An American nuclear submarine arrived on the shores of Cuba against the background of a visit to Havana by a detachment of ships of the Northern fleet Russian Navy. The Associated Press reports this with reference to the US Southern Command.

Despite Washington's statements that the appearance of a Russian warship with hypersonic missiles on board and a nuclear submarine in Cuba does not cause any concern for the United States, the Pentagon sent its own nuclear submarine to the area. According to available data, the Los Angeles-class nuclear submarine USS Helena (SSN-725) arrived off the coast of Cuba near Guantanamo Bay. As the military themselves say, the submarine should “demonstrate the strength” of the American fleet.

A US Navy submarine has arrived at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, in a show of force as a fleet of Russian warships gathers for planned military exercises in the Caribbean.

- said in a statement.

The US Southern Command called the visit of the nuclear submarine USS Helena (SSN-725) to Cuba “an ordinary port visit,” especially since the Russian submarine allegedly does not pose any threat to the United States. Before this, the United States stated that Russian submarines of the Yasen-M project were almost impossible to detect.

As previously reported, the Russian frigate Admiral Gorshkov, as well as the Russian multi-purpose nuclear submarine Kazan of Project 885M Yasen-M, arrived at the port of Havana the day before, performing the tasks of a long-distance sea voyage.

I don’t think that this will be the first meeting with “Defchonka” for “Gorshka” and “Kazan”.

"An American nuclear submarine has arrived on the shores of Cuba..."
      *****************
Actually, “to the shores of CUBA” and “sent TO Cuba” are far from the same thing...

Well, Moscow and Havana still have options to make Uncle Sam nervous. Acting WITHOUT FUSS, which I EMPHASIZE.....

For example, Russia could transfer its “export-advanced” air defense/missile defense systems to Havana...

And Havana, to declare that, “from such and such a date,” agreeing to the presence of an expanded Russian contingent in Cuba (equipped with its own, even more “advanced” air defense/missile defense), begins to protect and defense of its ENTIRE SOVEREIGN airspace, against unauthorized appearance in it or invasion of ANY aircraft....

As I understand it, Uncle Sam has Guantanamo on the territory of Liberty Island, the “indefinite” lease agreement for which Havana long ago terminated...

Modern Cuba is not the right-wing “successor” of the Batista regime. And the terms of the “Lease Agreement” dated 1934, the States THEMSELVES WERE THE FIRST TO VIOLATE UNILATERALLY...

Let's say by the “decision” of HIS Supreme Court that Guantanamo “is part of the sovereign territory of the United States”...

It’s amazing that huge countries with hundreds of millions of people live in them, have technology, an economy, an army, etc. and so on. But they still behave like primitive monkeys. "Show of Force"

Well, their economy is tied to this kind of “demonstration”. Roughly speaking, if they don’t get into trouble for any reason or without reason, then the dollar will be ruined...

That’s not why our boys went to the ends of the world; that’s not why Russia sent them there, to be afraid of something. Moreover, some kind of “demonstration”.

Yeah, it’s all just a matter of comparison, nothing in history changes. In the Fourth World War we will compare who has the biggest stone and the longest club.

I think if not the “Ash” but the “Shark” had been brought to Cuba, the desire to compare p-ties among the amers would have greatly diminished. The sheer bulk of this submarine is a demonstration of our capabilities.

Don’t even talk about these monsters, nowadays it’s just a floating missile base that can’t even hide under water. And at one time, the amers easily discovered it... Therefore, the more, the better... for a submarine it is not good.

          Don't talk nonsense)
The 941 project was created to work under the polar ice cap of the Arctic, and with the firing range of the D-19, with its P-39, there is nothing to do in the Caribbean Sea

A modern submarine of typical size, even an order of magnitude more efficient, is not visually spectacular. What's in sight? hull, wheelhouse - and that's it. You need to read about everything else somewhere. And then I looked - and it’s immediately clear that this monster can do quite a lot of things, and the country that created this is certainly not just a gas station...

if we mean “presence of force,” then the “Shark” was better suited for this than modern boats.

To demonstrate the flag (presence of force) there is a surface fleet
It was under the builder that a fashion appeared: to drive nuclear submarines into the Finnish puddle, for show

Yes, and at one time the amers easily discovered it..

Project 941 boats were the first boats of the FOURTH generation. At one time they were quieter than other submarines of the Soviet Navy. Therefore, no one discovered them easily. And they walked quietly and, as a rule, under the ice of the Arctic Ocean, where the same Elks tried not to graze unnecessarily.

Stop it, the Amers have always been superior to us in the fleet, both surface and underwater... We don’t know how to play football, but we know how to play hockey... I hope you understand what I mean...

Well, everything flows, everything changes. Now the 885M project is at the level of their Sea Wolf (SSN-21). One problem is that we don’t have enough of these APRKs... But the 955A is superior to their SSNs in terms of low noise level and mutual detection range. (Detection range is 320 km to 230 for Ams). Our problem is that we take a long time to make (take a long time to harness!) our modern submarines. There are a number of reasons for this, which we have so far been unsuccessfully fighting. But I hope we will overcome it.
              AHA.

Why, excuse me, did ours moor beautifully in Havana and not stop at the outer roadstead of Guantanamo?! Who proved to whom that he is longer?! We stood at the sea terminal and the Yankees stood at their base in Cuba! request And so as not to block that Helenka in this bay, knocking out “faulty” ships, including Cuban ones, on its escape route?!

Another confirmation that the mattress makers really didn’t like the presence of Our Navy forces off their shores. Ah, everyone is shouting about freedom of navigation in the world's oceans, but this is only in the case of their ships. And, for other countries, no, no. Trump went crazy with this information.

To convincingly demonstrate force, it must be used to defeat.
Any other demonstration actually shows weakness,
because it shows a lack of courage to go to the end.

They have been removed from service a long time ago; they started under Gorbachev. The latter operated as a floating laboratory for several years. But it was recently scrapped

Somehow the amers stayed too long in Cuba! The entire area around Guantonamo Bay has been polluted, I suppose. In general, it’s high time to burn this abscess out.

They will stand there for a while, then simultaneously go out to sea and try to hear each other.
