Sailor of the three fleets

3

Sailor of the three fleetsFebruary 15, 1913 in the village of Smolnikovo, Moscow province was born Semyon Lobov, future admiral fleet. This year, Semyon Mikhailovich would have turned 100 years old. In this regard, we allow ourselves to remind our readers about this wonderful man, a capital sailor, whose naval service channels ran through the Pacific, Black Sea and Northern Fleets.

A sixteen year old boy went into a big independent life. He first worked on the railway, then studied at the factory school. After receiving a specialty electrician, began working at the Lyubertsy Electromechanical Plant. In the spring of 1932, under the Komsomol voucher, entered the Higher Naval School named after MV Frunze.

Pacific fleet service

After graduating from college in September 1937, S.M. Lobov was sent to serve in the Pacific Fleet (PF). He began his service as commander of the battery of the warhead-2 of the “Burun” patrol ship.

The first commander of this ship in 1934-1935 was the future commander of the Navy of the USSR and the Admiral of the Fleet of the Soviet Union Sergey Gorshkov. His recollections of the service on the “Burun” give an accurate idea of the conditions under which he began his service and received naval training Semyon Lobov. “The years of service in the Pacific Ocean were not easy ... troubles, fogs, storms, sleepless nights, a series of endless shifts, disorder of life ... In the evening you will return from a many-hour patrol, and the next morning you will go to sea to provide combat training for submarines, torpedo boats, coastal artillery, aviation... "Burun" - the target ship, the towing of shields, which are used to practice torpedo and artillery fire, bombing ... Maneuver, evade, put a smoke screen. You’ll reach the base completely exhausted, at the limit of human strength ... ”

In July-August 1938, there was an armed conflict between the Soviet Union and Japan at Lake Hassan. "Burun" among other ships of the Pacific Fleet took part in the maintenance of hostilities. It was then that Semyon Mikhailovich received "baptism of fire."

In July, 1939, at the end of the courses of the destroyer commanders, Lobova was appointed assistant commander for the sharp destroyer under construction, and then for the retreating destroyer, Shattering. And again, however, again in absentia, the intersection of the fleet destinies of future admirals Lobov and Gorshkov, who in 1937 was the commander of the “razushchey”. The experience gained by Semyon Mikhailovich during his service on ships under construction, knowledge of the shipbuilding process came to him more than once throughout his further service.

The destroyer "Razyaschiy" entered into service 20 December 1940, and already in 1941, the ship won the challenge prize of the Military Council of the Pacific Fleet on artillery firing.

In June 1942, Lobov assumed command of the destroyer Rezvy. The Military Council of the Pacific Fleet has repeatedly noted the successes of the destroyer personnel, and the command itself characterized Semen Mikhailovich as a constantly energetic, capable, strong-willed and demanding commander.

In August 1945, the destroyer “Rezvy” was part of the fleet forces, which were tasked with preventing the actions of the Japanese Navy against Soviet naval bases. "Frisky" and other ships guarded the internal communications, accompanied the transport, ensured the delivery of reinforcements to the landing party in Maoka (now Kholmsk) on Sakhalin. The division command noted Semyon Mikhailovich as one of the best ship commanders. “Decisive and bold in his actions,” - noted in the description given to him in 1945 year. In the same year he was awarded the Order of the Patriotic War, I degree.

In April 1946, the ship was entrusted with the execution historical missions - Frisky delivered to Tokyo Soviet members of the international military tribunal. For fulfilling this crucial task, Semyon Mikhailovich was awarded the Order of the Red Star. And soon he receives a new appointment and says goodbye to the Pacific Ocean, where he served for 14 years, on the banks of which his sons Vladimir and Valery were born.

ON THE BLACK SEA FLEET

In November 1946, the captain of the 2 rank Lobov was appointed commander of the 1 division of the Black Sea Fleet (Black Sea Fleet) destroyer brigade. The division consisted of the Red Banner destroyers "Savvychny" and "Boyky", the destroyer "Bodry", which went through the whole war, as well as the destroyer "Ognevoi", which entered service on April 8 of the year 1945.

In August, Stalin and Alexey Kosygin, Deputy Chairman of the USSR Council of Ministers, visited the fleet and the city of 1947. On board the cruiser "Molotov", marching under the flag of the commander-in-chief by the naval forces of the USSR Ivan Yumashev, the distinguished guests made a sea transition to the Caucasus. In escorting the cruiser, in order to prevent mine danger, the destroyer of the 1 division, Ognevoy and Likhoy, a former Romanian destroyer captured in 1944 as a trophy, marched. This precaution was far from superfluous - in the sea, there were often mines torn from anchors (combat trawling of the Black Sea area lasted until 1951 year). Given the responsibility of the task, the destroyer battalion commander of the 2 rank Lobov was heading for Ognevoe. For ensuring a safe transition, Semyon Mikhailovich was awarded the Order of the Red Star.

In May 1948, Lobov was appointed commander of one of the best and modern ships at that time of the Black Sea Fleet - the Voroshilov Red Banner Cruiser. In 1949, the ship took the first place in competitive artillery shooting among the fleets of the Soviet Union. And in the same 1949 year, the commander of the Voroshilov cruiser, captain of the 2 rank Lobov, was awarded the Order of the Red Banner.

The cruiser Voroshilov was part of the squadron, which since January 1945 was commanded by Vice Admiral Sergey Gorshkov. Having become the chief of staff of the Black Sea Fleet in 1948, and then its commander, Sergey Georgievich was very jealous of the former squadron. He loved these big beautiful ships - cruisers and battleships. On the squadron, most of all Gorshkov was impressed by Lobov, distinguished by his calmness, orderliness and, most importantly, his ability to clearly and thoroughly report on the crew’s affairs and the state of the cruiser.

Since then, Gorshkov has not lost sight of Lobov’s service. He wrote down in the certification officer: "He knows how to choose the most important and bring the decision to the final goal." It was Gorshkov who comes to his defense when the sailors of the Voroshilov cruiser - the village men - in 1950, organized a separate meeting. The sailors opposed the consolidation of collective farms and the reduction of the share of agricultural artels. For such an incident, the commander of the ship could be declared an enemy of the people. However, thanks to the intercession of Gorshkov, the incident cost Semyon Mikhailovich only by party punishment, which was soon removed.

13 June 1950 of the year Lobov was given the title of “Captain of the 1 rank” ahead of time, and in September 1951 of the year he was appointed commander of the Red Banner Battleship Sevastopol, the flagship of the Black Sea Fleet. For the success of the crew in 1953, the commander was awarded the Order of the Red Banner.

In December 1953, Lobova was sent to study for one-year academic courses for officers at the Naval Academy. During his studies, he was awarded the title "Rear Admiral". A year later, he returned to the Black Sea Fleet for further service in the position of commander of the 50 th division of cruisers. It consisted of three new cruisers, including the Admiral Nakhimov. It was the Nakhimov that became the first ship to receive an anti-ship missile system.

During the visit of the government delegation to the BSF 13 on October 1955, the cruiser “Admiral Nakhimov” visited Khrushchev, Mikoyan, Zhukov, Bulganin, Brezhnev and other leaders.

October 29 1955, an explosion occurred on the battleship Novorossiysk. On that terrible night, Lobov led the actions of the emergency parties that arrived from the cruisers of his division. It was a tragedy not only for the fleet and Sevastopol, but for the whole country. Killed 611 people.

During the explosion of the battleship Novorossiysk, the cruiser Mikhail Kutuzov turned out to be the closest ship to the battleship. From 35, a rescue team sent from a cruiser to assist the crew of the Novorossiysk, 27 sailors died.

NORTH FLEET

In 1956, the squadron remained the main striking force of the Northern Fleet (SF), the rear admiral serving as chief of staff. In June 1957, Lobov was appointed squadron commander. And in October 61, after graduating from the academic courses of officers at the Naval Academy, already in the rank of Vice-Admiral Lobov became the 1-th Deputy Commander of the Federation Council.

It was a period of tough confrontation with the United States and the NATO bloc. A huge work has been launched in our country to ensure strategic parity with the United States.

In July, 1962, the nuclear submarine "K-3" "Leninsky Komsomol" SF made a trip to the North Pole. In 1963, the North Sea submariners begin to master a new type of combat activity — combat service — and receive the first experience of using nuclear submarines (NS) in previously untapped regions of the World Ocean. In September, the first transfer of two nuclear submarines by the Northern Sea to the Pacific Fleet took place. At the same time, the K-181 submarine went into scuba diving and surfaced in the geographical point of the North Pole.

In 1964, Vice Admiral Lobov replaced Admiral Vladimir Kasatonov as Commander of the Federation Council. In 1966, the K-133 submarine and the K-116 SSBN made the first round-the-world expedition. Boats crossed the Barents Sea to Kamchatka across the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans around South America.

In 1968, the Federation Council participated in the North exercises together with the Baltic Fleet, as well as with the fleets of the GDR and Poland. In 1970, the SF under the command of Lobova participated in the largest maneuvers of the Russian Navy "Ocean". Actions were simultaneously conducted in the Atlantic, Arctic and Pacific oceans and in the seas adjacent to them. The actions of the Federation Council have earned high marks from the country's leaders. The fleet showed that it can independently solve operational-strategic tasks and influence the course and outcome of the war.

28 July 1970, Lobov was awarded the title "Fleet Admiral". In May, 1972, he bade the Northern Fleet, where he served 17 years. During this time, the fleet has changed dramatically. There were strategic missile carriers, nuclear submarines with cruise missiles, multi-purpose nuclear submarines. In total, more than 70 nuclear submarines became part of the Federation Council over this period. Large surface ships with rocket launchers were commissioned. weapons. The fleet was replenished with aircraft and helicopters of a new type. In 1966, the 61 th separate Kirkenes Red Banner Marine Regiment was formed as part of the SF.

The fleet admiral Vladimir Chernavin (from 1985 to 1992 a year - the commander-in-chief of the Navy, deputy defense minister) wrote: “The formation of the nuclear submarine fleet was particularly rapid. Our nuclear-powered ships began to swim a lot ... and a part of the mentioned historical campaigns of nuclear workers took place just at the time of the command of Semyon Mikhailovich. These are 1964 – 1972 years. Semyon Mikhailovich had an extraordinary capacity for work, a very high sense of responsibility, he devoted a lot of energy to the development of the submarine fleet ... Under the flag of the admiral, and from the year 1970 of the admiral of the fleet S.M. Lobova I had to participate in many naval exercises. The commander has always sought to the depth of the plan. Here he was a true generator of ideas, not shifting this work to his assistants. But he was not limited to the personal advancement of ideas, but was engaged in their elaboration and implementation in the most thorough way. Its high staff culture had its effect, without which some are trying to manage, but without which a real commander is impossible. To us, these teachings were always interesting and truly instructive. Supervised by the teachings of Semen Mikhailovich confidently and calmly. Such clarity, thoughtfulness of the manager’s actions gives much more than subsequent clever analyzes after not very thoughtful measures. Although the analysis of Commander Lobov was also an example of in-depth analysis, accurate conclusions and constructive recommendations. ”

He graduated from the service of the fleet admiral Lobov in Moscow in the post of assistant chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the USSR in the Navy.
