“Izdeliye-305” or LMUR: a high-precision Russian drone missile used in the Northeast Military District zone
History The Light Multi-Purpose Guided Missile (LMUR), popularly called the Lemur, began in 2003 when a senior Defense Department official read an article about the American drone Predator and proposed to create a similar aircraft for the Russian armies.
Ultimately, it was thanks to the above-mentioned initiative that the Russian Armed Forces appeared Drone "Pacer". Meanwhile, even before the UAV was created, the Russian Defense Ministry thought about what it could be armed with.
As a result, in 2011, the Russian military The department ordered the development of a missile, which received the index "Product-79". Despite the fact that the missile was ready by 2016, "Inohodets" began to be equipped with "Kornets".
However, “Product-79” was not wasted. The FSB became interested in the missile to equip regular helicopters. At the same time, the ammunition was supposed to become “smart” with the ability to select a target and cancel the “task” already in flight if necessary.
This is how the LMUR or “Izdeliye-305” missile appeared, which was first presented at the Army-2021 forum. The first combat use of the Lemur ammunition took place in June 2022, when an Mi-28 hit a hangar in the village of Yakovlevka.
It is worth noting that LMUR is a kind of hybrid between a rocket and a drone. The ammunition can either follow a target, the parameters of which are set before launch, or select a “victim” under the control of the operator. This feature is available thanks to the optics built into the homing head.
The launch weight of the Izdeliye-305 is 105 kg, 25 of which is the warhead. The maximum launch range is determined to be 14,5 km at speeds of up to 220-230 m/s.
