The rocket that came from the cold (the official recognition of Russian superiority by the Americans)

61
Everyone remembers what the struggle for technology was from the first days of the rocket era. It just so happened that initially German designers succeeded in rocket production; and even in the days of bloody battles, when the Red Army and the allies, overcoming the desperate resistance of the Nazis, were advancing deep into Germany, the specialists were already faced with the task of finding everything related to the technology of the FAA secret project.

With the beginning of the space age in the USSR and the USA nothing more closed than the national secrets of creating rockets existed. Rocketry has become the main criterion of the military power of states and their membership in the circle of superpowers.

How did it happen that the country that first discovered space, launched an astronaut, delivered moon rovers to the Moon and created space stations - lost this race in the end?

You can, of course, nod to perestroika and the collapse of the country that followed it; a sharp reduction in funds for the space program. But the reason is not only underfunding. In the years of the Great Patriotic War, it was even more difficult - however, we won the technical race with the Reich.

The unique documentary film “The Rocket that Came from the Cold”, released in the US in 2001, reveals the veil on this issue.

“Unique” - because it never occurred to the Americans even to somehow disguise the facts of the direct, in my opinion, betrayal of Russia's national interests by a number of people involved in its cosmic secrets. (Obviously, the directors were sure that our capitulation to the West was irreversible).

This is an amazing technology for American designers of the "closed type" of the NK-33 rocket engines, designed by S. Kuznetsov for the H-1 carrier in Samara according to the Soviet "lunar program".

This is what the American experts themselves say about this:

- This engine ... led to the revision of all US space technologies ...

- ... We did not know such technologies ...

-... These are the best engines on the planet. Western scientists considered this technology impossible ...

-... This level in the United States was considered impossible ...

The authors of the film do not hide the fact that they learned about its existence from intelligence.

The American film demonstrates the footage of how their MBR, potentially “aimed at Russia,” conducts a successful test launch.

When launching this ICBM, an imposing Russian representative is present, whom I identify as Yu.N. Koptev, head of Rosaviakosmos. (He later received a lot of accusations of prematurely flooding the Soviet Mir space station - not without persistent recommendations from the American "partners").

Russian specialist at the start of an American combat missile equipped with our engine? Who is crazy?

Hello Valery! Betrayal, which was also called business yesterday ... We sold almost all scientific developments of the Soviet era for American rubles ... and sold second-hand prices.
It was for this that the KGB was dispersed, the army and the police destroyed ...
And now the task (in connection with the restoration of power structures) is to get money out of the country and escape to some sort of London ... Catch and land in full, without regard to public and world opinion ...

Yes, this Lafa especially was not. It is one thing to get data and even samples, and quite another thing to reproduce all this. As someone who was talking on a business trip with one person, more precisely, with the head of an armored personnel carrier factory in the territory of Slovakia. They sold all this technology to India and even built a plant for the Indians, and India did not succeed in normal APCs. There is always a zest in any business, without which the whole idea is not worth cloning a dedicated egg. And here is another example from my personal practice. In the dashing nineties in our creative group developed a cryptograph, i.e. data encryption system. So the person who did the encryption and decryption core itself, as well as was engaged in its optimization, later admitted that he realized only a year later how it all works.

Yesaul, do not be discouraged right away to tears! The author writes about technologies inaccessible to Americans, and the fact cites the use of a rocket engine sold by him. Maybe you need to clarify ?? Did they sell the technology? (example: Amers do not own the technology for welding titanium, but we order parts from titanium for Boeing from us)
I remember they wrote more than 10 years ago that the already-made rocket engines that did not find application were partially sold to amers for use in peaceful missiles. Compare if there is a difference - the product and the technology of its manufacture: we buy Intel processors, but there is no way to do this in the country, we sell the S-300, but not the license (design documentation) for its production, etc.
PS: weld a fence or a garage and I can make a homemade weld. apparatus and electrodes from the store, but I won’t be upset for welding the main gas pipeline!

But the fact that the new technologies were most likely given out by a flaw in intelligence, or the victory of American intelligence .. .

An explosion occurred in the sky over the Urals
According to eyewitnesses, an airplane exploded over Chelyabinsk. According to them, there was an outbreak and a blast wave broke glass in buildings. Currently, people are being evacuated from buildings, as well as children from schools. All cellular communications have disappeared in the city, Interfax notes

Meanwhile, reports of an outbreak in the sky come to the SMS portal of our radio station also from Kurgan, Yekaterinburg and the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area. Messages also come to our forum. Here, for example, from a user who signed up Dmitry Tkachenko: “Guys! 20 minutes ago in Kurgan I saw with my own eyes a comet entering the atmosphere! At first it looked like a signal rocket, then it got brighter and bigger ... over the horizon (like over the roofs of houses) exploded, bright red small pieces flew in different directions, and the trace remained like a jet plane for about five minutes in the sky ... ”

As ITAR-TASS was told by the Ministry of Emergency Situations in the Sverdlovsk Region, “perhaps these are meteors. “We collect all the information,” the agency said. Recall, it was previously reported that an asteroid, the diameter of which is comparable to half a football field, should pass by Earth today.

How many technologies have flowed ... great scientific and engineering solutions. How many programs were minimized and destroyed. Russian genius sold west for 30 pieces of silver. And the worst thing is that there are people who sing praises to both Gorbatom and Yeltsin, as if what they were doing was a great blessing to Russia.

It is necessary to remove from the eyes these "golden petals" that cover their view.

Somewhere closer to 2005-2006, I watched a film about the NK-33 on the bourgeois either Discovery or another channel, and it was terribly disappointing that the government almost openly betrayed the interests of the motherland and merged everything over the hill. Until now, these people live and prosper as if nothing had happened, they speak beautiful speeches to the inhabitants of the inhabitants

Even if amers receive the drawings, this does not mean that they will make it. Production technology, materials, control systems, no one transferred. The engines are sold old (there are many new ones on their basis), for specific projects, we know exactly what goals an engine is set for (do not forget about the engine’s own telemetry, how do you know what data it transmits about the operation of their missile systems, and who else besides them accepts it?). They sold the scrap and earned money for the further development of their own (do not forget that our entire defense industry in the 90s survived thanks to foreign customers).

And in general, what kind of national inferiority complex is this, we already know that our engineers are the best, stop whining and chewing snot. We’ll make new ones, even cooler.

And whiners like "our missiles began to fall often," I will say - missiles have fallen before without this, one cannot move in front, all the problems at the stand cannot be solved, all conditions cannot be provided. With the alliance, it was possible to make 12 test lunar rockets, so that the 13th flew with a person on board, now there are no such opportunities, they are working on innovations on the stands and forward, took off well, did not take off well too. Korolev also said that if a rocket flew right away, it was bad, because there would probably be some problems, and it would be better to immediately identify and systematically eliminate them.

And why the Russian industry can not copy simple 2-core processors, and China the Russian aircraft engines?
And why did they put a liquid engine on a solid fuel ICBM? To increase energy efficiency?

The rocket that came from the cold (the official recognition of Russian superiority by the Americans)
We would also have officially recognized the superiority of the USSR in the exploration of the moon ... Our moon rovers still shine through telescopes with their reflectors ...

If I am not mistaken, they could not copy it. I mean the engine. So that ........
    And they can’t ...

And for me it is still not too late, or rather the time itself, to punish these "merchants" who traded their homeland in troubled times.
There should be no statute of limitations for these scum and oblivion of their misconduct before Russia (USSR).
That Gorbachev, that his other associates, that went along the path of betrayal of the interests of the Motherland and the people, scientists, functionaries, and other villains, should be raked to the fullest.

All this is of course interesting, betrayal and so on, although the development of engines has not been handed over to amers. And the engines are made in Russia. Well, okay, the question is different:
on Atlas which brought amers to the Moon there were 5 engines
1 NK30 engines were on our N33 rocket, Korolev calculated that less power would not be able to bring the ship to the moon and return it back.
Now the calculation: RD180 is 10 times more powerful than the Atlas engine, and RD180 is 33 times more powerful than the NK5. That is, the Atlas engine can be taken as unit (1), therefore RD180 - 10, and NK33 -2. There were 5 engines on the Atlas, therefore, the power of the Atlas will be 5, and now we calculate the power of H1 with 30 NK33 engines, and we get a power equal to 60. Somehow it does not converge, 5 for Atlas and 60 for H1. How did the amers with such power bring Atlas to the Moon and bring it back? I doubt very much that Korolev was mistaken in calculating the necessary power for flying to the moon and back.
Question: Maybe it’s true that the amers on the moon weren’t :)

Saturn-5 lunar launch vehicle (payload more than 100 tons), and Atlas was launched by Mercury spacecraft (payload weight 1,4 t)

Do not worry, the rocket was built to fly to Mars.
And from the sawn parts made elements of farm buildings, and even a bus stop.
Khrushchev didn’t need Mars, nor did the Moon either, since the Americans had already been there.
There is nothing to carry the bonbs on, and you say outer space.

a film was shown about this engine (2004-2005)

The American engine specialist said something like this:

    - we know about such technologies and ourselves considered the principle of such a mixture of oxidizer and fuel during the lunar race, but were forced to abandon this principle because there were no materials and it was necessary to conduct expensive experiments. they chose the simplest and less heavily armed option.
    - This engine - they use it because of high thrust-weight ratio and cheapness (they bought ready-made).

"amazing for American designers technology of" closed type "rocket engines NK-33" - ????
can a closed-cycle engine with gas afterburning from a turbopump

And where does the launch of ICBMs go - the last liquid-launched ICBMs in the United States were in the 1960s (Titan, it seems). NK-33 bought for space launch vehicles.

NK-33 was created in the 60-70s for the N-1 rocket. In connection with the closure of the Soviet lunar program were unclaimed. On those 4 N-1s that were launched, the NK-15 stood on the 1st stage (as many as 30 pieces, since the thrust was insufficient). And the background of the Kuznetsov LRE is this. Korolev and Glushko quarreled and the first had to turn to Kuznetsov (Glushko at that time was fond of very effective fuels and oxidizing agents, but also very toxic like fluorine, and Korolev insisted on oxygen-kerosene and oxygen-hydrogen engines). Kuznetsov Design Bureau of rocket engines before was not engaged at all.

I do not think that the topic of betrayal is appropriate in this case. We sold finished products that had been in the warehouse for more than 20 years, but not finished products. In principle, the Americans can reproduce them at home, but how much will it cost money and time. Therefore, they will buy ready-made. And it is unprofitable for Russia to be a "dog in the manger".

Maybe I'm wrong, but in my opinion amers sold the Energia engines, which seem to be the most powerful among the rocket engines.

      Well done, a sound answer.
And guys - crucify him - accustomed to screaming!
The plant was dying, there were no people left, there was no hope for anything.
They managed to successfully sell goods that were completely unclaimed by anyone,
revived production, attracted specialists, purchased new equipment, develop and launch new, much more powerful and modern engines. We are ready to work for the future and thereby ensure the future opportunities of the country!
And just at this very interesting moment, the familiar always starts to sound from all sides - crucify, crucify him !!!
Just an exercise for the vocal cords, you say?
No, my friends. Examine the media field on this topic over the past month, and you will see that this is a specific bullying campaign. Not good. It is necessary to support the domestic manufacturer, and not drag it to the wall, as usual. Moreover, we also fly on its engines. Probably. If we do not kill each other from flashes of anger ...
