Houthi rebels from the Ansar Allah movement have offered students expelled from American universities for participating in pro-Palestinian protests to continue their studies at universities in Yemen.
According to the Reuters news agency, one of the representatives of the leadership of the Yemeni rebel movement stressed that the Houthis are serious about accepting students persecuted in the United States for supporting Palestine.
According to previously released official data, American police detained 2200 participants in pro-Palestinian protests in the United States, a significant portion of whom were students. In particular, American security forces dispersed a tent camp at the University of California at Los Angeles, using rubber bullets and tear gas.
American students tried to protect themselves from the police with umbrellas and homemade shields. According to the American press, the police used extreme brutality when dispersing pro-Palestinian rallies.
In turn, US President Joe Biden emphasized that student protests will not change Washington's policy in the Middle East. In addition, the US authorities passed a law against pro-Palestinian protests at American universities, according to which a ban on criticism of Israel for the genocide of the inhabitants of Gaza was introduced.
Meanwhile, in Yemen there are about forty higher education institutions, seven of which occupy top positions in international rankings.
