Now capable of shooting down Israeli bunker-busting bombs: Iran has modernized its air defense systems

Facilities Defense Iran's medium-range missiles have received new weapons as part of their anti-aircraft capability upgrade missiles and are now capable of shooting down bunker buster bombs that Israel might try to strike.

After monitoring regional threats, we have concluded that Israel is dropping guided or bunker-busting bombs from long distances on its targets. This was noticed during the attack on the Syrian T-4 airbase

- said Brigadier General Ahmad Sadeknejad, adviser to the Minister of Defense on air defense issues, Defa Press reports.

This refers to such means of destroying deep targets as the American bombs GBU-57 Massive Ordnance Penetrator (MOP) and BLU-109. They pose a threat to Iran's underground nuclear facilities, which the IDF views as a prime target. According to press publications, the United States could have transferred thousands of bombs of these types to Tel Aviv in recent months.

SAM Shahid Arman

To counter enemy tactics, we developed the AGBU [anti-guided bomb unit] product and installed it on the Shahid Arman system

- noted the general.

As indicated in the publication, the Shahid Arman air defense system, when repelling a raid of anti-bunker bombs, will operate in tandem with Azarakhsh, an anti-aircraft complex designed to destroy low-flying targets.

Azarakhsh air defense system

Shahid Arman is a recently introduced mobile air defense system that is currently undergoing testing. It is said to take approximately three minutes to deploy and has a threat response time of less than 20 seconds. The range of action of the air defense system is 150-200 km (when using the Sayad 4B missile defense system - 300 km with an air ceiling of up to 13,7 thousand m).

Azarakhsh was also showcased recently. This is a low-altitude air defense system designed to counter threats from drones, quadcopters, cruise missiles and other small air targets. The system is available in stationary and mobile configurations. The range of the air defense system is up to 50 km.

According to the general, these two new systems will be integrated with other Iranian air defense systems, including the S-300, Khordad 15, Tashah and Bawar 373. All air defense systems are controlled by the central command from the Khatam al-Anbiya base.

Isn’t it smarter to shoot down a plane that’s dropping bombs than to shoot down bombs?

What if the carriers made it through the air defense and made a reset?
In general, Iran is developing its military-industrial complex very well, especially in the conditions in which it has been for about 30 years.

The plane may not enter the range of the air defense missile system... These bombs (more likely missiles), judging by the tail, will get where they need to go under their own power... Judging by the video, they are powerful weapons... So it would be nice if Iran He shared the technology of his air defense system with us... Who knows, maybe it will come in handy soon... am

By the way, yes, colleague, they correctly mentioned that these bombs can easily be converted into controllable ones.

          They are already manageable.

Why do you need Iranian technology? The Russian Federation successfully knocks down both American jdams and French hammers.

What the radar doesn't see, the missile won't target. Again, from the moment of release to the moment of hitting the target, there are only a few minutes, if not seconds. And try to target an object that appeared out of nowhere in that time.

“Aim” with what?)) Like pointing at a front sight?)) If the radar is normal_ it means it has captured the target, it starts in a couple of seconds. Radar is crap, that means it's a bummer.))

Well, at least it takes time to turn the launcher towards the target. And it is also necessary to identify the target, because the Persians once shot down a passenger plane from/to Ukraine.

Well, colleague, these are already extremes. This is a completely different story. You can recall an example when an Israeli plane covered itself and exposed our Il to the Syrians.

, because the Persians have already shot down a passenger board from / from Ukraine once.
I'm tired of hearing that as proof to say Iranian-made air defenses aren't good and ignore the fact that Iranian-made air defenses are the only ones that regularly shoot down US drones around Iran and Yemen. Especially the new Iranian invention missile 358, which was named by the US after the tale number of the system's first kill, which was a CIA airplane (carrying Michael DeAndre, known as Ayatollah Mike), missile 358 is the first of its kind and the only loitering air defense
already has 27 kills on its belt, mostly American and Israeli drones, but some UAE-operated Chinese drones were also downed.
            And about Ukrainian airliner:
In that scenario, the air defense system worked perfectly and destroyed its given target. The issue was human errors from the air defense operator, who mistakenly considered the passenger plane as a target, but his fault was lesser than that of the air traffic control tower person, who for some reason cleared the Ukrainian aircraft to take off the ground when they were told not to in the hours that all air defense units are told to shoot down anything that isn't Iranian Air Force.
The patriot who shot the bird should be given a medal instead of a 15-year prison sentence because, in that scenario, the entire country was supposed to be a no-fly zone for nonmilitary assets. He probably thought that his radar display was being tricked into depicting an American fighter jet as a passenger through electronic warfare and hacking, and decided to destroy the perceived threat with his own discretion.

I'm tired of hearing this as evidence that Iranian-made air defenses are bad, and ignoring the fact that Iranian-made air defenses are the only ones that regularly shoot down US drones around Iran and Yemen. And about the Ukrainian airliner:
In this scenario, the air defense system worked perfectly and destroyed the intended target. It was a matter of human error by an air defense operator who mistakenly mistook a passenger plane for a target, but his fault was less than the fault of the control tower, which for some reason gave permission to the Ukrainian plane to take off when they were told not to do this at those hours when All air defense units are ordered to shoot down everything that does not belong to the Iranian Air Force.
The patriot who shot the bird should have been given a medal rather than a 15 year prison sentence because in this scenario the entire country would have become a no-fly zone for non-military assets. By and large, Iran is puffing out its cheeks. the same as with the national fighter and the “analog” S-300PMU2. It’s better to invest $3-4 billion in Vityaz and Triumph, to support your nuclear facilities with BUKs and Pantsirs, than to lose thousands of centrifuges and (underground) missile bases. As the experience of Syria shows, it has been bombed with impunity for 5-7 years. Despite the fact that during the Syrian war, we modernized more than 100 air defense systems, supplied two S-300PMU2 divisions and thousands of MANPADS. At the same time, there are powerful radars consisting of the S-300B4 and S-400 Triumph. Plus Chinese electronic warfare/electronic warfare stations.
