One hundred million dollars worth of missiles wasted: the costs of the US Navy mission in the Red Sea

The United States positions itself as a world hegemon, which obliges it to participate directly or indirectly in any conflict that occurs on the planet. However, this policy has its costs.

After the Houthis began shelling merchant ships in the Red Sea (in response to the IDF intervention in Gaza), Washington could not afford to stand aside and sent a naval group to the region to counter these attacks. Its task is to repel the raids missiles и drones on ships working in the interests of Israel and its supporting countries.

The main means of combating threats from Yemeni rebels are the SM-2 ship-based missiles, which are responsible for intercepting air targets. The extent of their consumption during the Red Sea mission is reflected in the US Navy's request to Congress for fiscal year 2025.

The list includes $92,9 million to cover the heavy expenditure of Standard Missile-2 since October [2023], which has been used to shoot down missiles and drones launched by the Houthis from Yemen into the Red Sea

- noted in the publication Defense News.

Thus, the United States spent up to one hundred million dollars on missiles alone, not counting the costs of deploying a naval group.

    But what are these “costs”?!..
This is a portfolio of orders for military-industrial complex enterprises!
    This is GDP growth!
This is a reduction in unemployment!..
No need to moan about it. I do not believe. (With)

There will be real costs if the rocket reaches and the ship is lost. Moreover, for the USA the price is more than acceptable, especially since you wrote correctly that the money will go through the military-industrial complex into the economy. But VO, apparently, urgently needed an article along the lines of “that’s how bad things are for them!” Although this is just as stupid as counting the costs, for example, of operating our air defense in the border zone.

The ships are insured. New ones will be built instead. Everything is fine.

          What a bummer...
In fact, the United States prints this very money.
The only thing that limits them is that if they print TOO much, hyperinflation will begin.
And 100 million is nothing at all

So this is an ideal training ground to test anti-ship systems in battle. The enemy is not so strong, at the same time, he is not exactly a mug and launches anti-ship missiles, and even produced by a potential enemy. You can’t think of a better exercise for the Navy. For a hundred million, a good price for such experience for them

Real experience of combat, albeit with a not very strong enemy. We have a similar one that works worse.

The Red Sea is the ideal place to pay off Crocus by sending this entire fleet to feed the sharks.

    To say unequivocally that
One hundred million dollars worth of missiles wasted: the costs of the US Navy mission in the Red Sea
not entirely correct. For taxpayers these are costs, for Raytheon Technologies Corporation these are new orders
Raytheon is an American company and a major supplier to the US military. More than 90% of the company's income comes from defense orders. Developer of the Patriot air defense system, manufacturer of the Tomahawk missile system.

100 million dollars - 1 day of hostilities in the Northern Military District, it sounded that such expenses were incurred on the part of Ukraine in any case. Miser. Well, plus the additional loading of your military-industrial complex, updating the bookmaker, jobs, taxes - these losses for the USA are doubtful, there is more profit.

100 Lyams is not a lot for such a thing, they give the Ukornazis lards

It is clear that they will draw more. But it’s somehow expensive to shoot down a semi-plywood tank with a rocket for 50 thousand of their own money. Nemchura also pranced around there, in the end they shot down a couple of Husitfaners, but were left without expensive ammunition and hastily disappeared.

This is 100 lyams only for air defense systems. How much did they spend on bombing and shelling the Houthis?

That kind of money on the scale of their defense budget is a joke.
