Ekaterina Smetanova: with things on the way out ...
On the eve, the Investigation Department of the TFR of Russia decided in a peculiar way to equate the rights of the principal persons in the sensational case of Oboronservis to Yevgeny Vasilyev and Yekaterina Smetanova. Perhaps those who had not yet managed to track down this information in a large stream thought that Mrs. Vasilyeva was behind bars, but everything was exactly the opposite. The investigation considered that Ekaterina Smetanova had fully cooperated with him (as a result), identified a number of key points of an outstanding business, fully admitted her guilt, and therefore, has the full right to leave the detention center cell where she was from last November and go to relative freedom on his own recognizance. The press service of the Investigative Committee reports that Smetanova is not going to hide from the investigation, and therefore may be outside the detention facility. Such information causes mixed feelings. On the one hand, one can rejoice at the mother of two children and the successful director of OOO CPP Expert, who is no longer languishing in the dungeons of the SIZO. On the other hand, such an exemption suggests a kind of calming down of the investigation: they say, there will be no new high-profile revelations, no one will change their status (in particular, the status of the witness to the status of the accused), which means that all the defendants will eventually get off relatively easy fright
Speaking about the release of Yekaterina Smetanova on a written undertaking not to leave, it is necessary to recall that at one time journalists asked about a very differentiated approach to the pre-trial fate of those under investigation who were made by representatives of Themis, who made the decision “whom to send to prison during the investigation apartments". Then the court stated that Smetanov allegedly found herself in a pre-trial detention center, and Vasilyeva was under house arrest, for one simple reason - it turns out that Vasilyeva’s defenders simply managed to ask the court for such leniency, and the investigation did not object, but nothing similar happened in relation to Smetanov . If we are guided by such words, it turns out that there was simply no one to ask for Smetanov ...
It is obvious that such a “lonely” position of Smetanova, who is accused of official bribery and embezzlement of the Ministry of Defense funds in the amount of about 300 million rubles, could be used by the investigation for strategic purposes. After all, if we take into account that Smetanova could well have been aware of the expectation of the trial by her ex- “colleague” Yevgenia Vasilyeva in her own apartment, then it can be concluded that she could not be satisfied with this by definition. It is not necessary to build logical logic chains that are too complex to come to the conclusion that the investigating authorities clearly could have taken advantage of Ekaterina Smetanova’s discontent. They say that you, Mrs. Smetanova, are now “polishing” the naras in the pre-trial detention center, and your girlfriend and classmate feels different from her.
If so, then Smetanova either had to arrange everything on the shelves in terms of on whose behalf and on whose instructions she allowed herself to realize fraudulent schemes, or start the game in “I don’t give up”. It should be borne in mind that Smetanova was the first detainee in the case of large-scale embezzlement at Oboronservis, and, as the investigating authorities say, it was her (Smetana) testimony that caused the charges against Evgenia Vasilyeva and others.
It turns out that the Investigation Committee itself, as it were, declares publicly that Mrs. Smetanova "has passed all of them." “All” means those who today have the status of the accused or are close to obtaining such status. Obviously, after such revelations by the press service of the RF IC, Smetanova and I did not want to leave the detention center. The newspaper “Kommersant”, which likes to suggest the words of some veiled sources, this time publish a quote that Smetanova allegedly expressed after the UK decision to release her on a written undertaking not to leave. This quotation looks like this: “In freedom, they will get me everywhere!” In order to “not get it,” Smetanova was even allocated a personal guard ...
This state of affairs led numerous mass media to the conclusion that a real hunt could now open up on Smetanov. They say that the same Vasilyeva, who, according to the press service of the RF IC, was detained "thanks to" the testimony of Ekaterina Smetanova, can recoup her friend for "squealing". However, this point of view defies any criticism. Why? Yes, because, excuse me, the elimination of Smetanovoy is an obvious overwhelmingly for any person who is under investigation in the case of Oboronservis. Why should the head of TsPP Expert LLC, released on a written undertaking not to leave, declare a hunt, if it is for the investigation, it is clearly waste material. Does anyone risk to hang on himself and the attempt on the life and health of Smetanovoy, as they say, to the heap ... Those whom Smetanova testified against (if she testified of course), this is clearly useless today. And to believe that Smetanova knew about the presence of a much larger fish in this matter is too naive. The director of "Expert", let's say, a bird of the wrong flight, to be aware of all decisions to the Ministry of Defense, even in terms of property relations. Now, if Vasilyev had started talking, which, apparently, was “closer to the body”, this would have been a real gift for the investigators (or, on the contrary, not a gift ...) But Ms. Vasilyeva, who is accused of large-scale embezzlement of the Defense Ministry, plays in silence being at home.
Thus, it is possible to summarize something and even try to predict.
A) Ekaterina Smetanova was released on a written undertaking not to leave the country, since she (according to data from the RF IC) denounced the accomplices of the fraud in the Oboronservis case.
B) The Smetanova case is placed in a separate proceeding, and it can receive a sentence, “beating” everyone else. Thus, the head of the “Expert” will be able to testify against the “defense service men” and the “defense service gun” already at the court hearing, during which their guilt in this noisy case will be considered.
C) Smetanov, if you believe the very anonymous source of Kommersant, fears that “they will get it everywhere,” which means that now it can, let's say, sit out, come to their senses, get in touch with anyone, and take it at the very court all his words back, saying that she was under pressure. They say that I have slandered everyone, since they gave me tea without sugar and bread without butter ... I didn’t know what I was saying ...
D) On the basis of such words, the court may send the case for further investigation, and these are months and months of work. And the more such months will pass, the more the Oboronservis case will be lost, getting lost in the country's pressing problems. As they say, time will heal everything - once, and in the art of lowering high-profile cases on the brakes, we, unfortunately, are ahead of the rest - two.
