Iran's permanent representative to the UN denies Western media reports about the sale of missiles to Russia
Iran is not engaged in the sale of ballistic and other weapons to the Russian Federation missiles and other types of weapons that could then be used in the conflict in Ukraine. This statement was made by Iran's permanent representative to the UN, Amir Saeed Irwani.
According to the Iranian diplomat, reports previously circulated by Western media that Russia allegedly received about 400 ballistic missiles from Iran are untrue. Irwani stressed that Iran is against inciting conflict, adheres to international law and the UN Charter, and therefore weapon does not supply to the conflict zone.
At the same time, the permanent representative of the Islamic Republic recalled that currently there are no legal obstacles to the sale of ballistic missiles by Iran to third countries. Therefore, Tehran's decision not to sell weapons is based solely on ethical considerations.
It is noteworthy that the Reuters news agency, which published material about the alleged transfer of Iranian missiles to Russia, at the same time also cited a statement from the Ukrainian side. Representatives of the Kyiv regime emphasized that no facts of the use of Iranian-made missiles have yet been recorded.
At the same time, Ukrainian authorities regularly report the use by Russia of unmanned aerial vehicles allegedly of Iranian origin. To this end, they persistently refer to the Russians in the press as Drones “Geranium” and “Geranium-2” by “Shahedami”, hinting that they were produced on the territory of the Islamic Republic.
