Heavy tank "Object 770" had a classic layout with the traditional placement in the fighting compartment of the three crew members. A characteristic feature and a new technical solution was a one-piece body, the sides of which differed in the thickness differentiated in length and height of armor. The sloping part of the sides had variable inclination angles (from 64 to 70 degrees) and variable thickness (mm 65-84). A similar approach was used in booking the forehead of the body. Frontal armor was able to withstand a hit of a 122-mm armor-piercing projectile from a distance of 200 meters at any angle of fire. The thickness of the upper frontal part of the angle of inclination 60 degrees was 138 mm. The upper part of the hull had a thickness of 105 mm. In order to increase the armor resistance of the edges, a shoulder was made around the entire perimeter of the hull. The turret, as well as the tank hull, was solid, with variable inclination angles and wall thickness, which is in the frontal parts up to 290 mm (the inclination angle is 30 degrees). The junction of the tower and the hull was protected. For mounting the optical rangefinder, the frontal part of the turret was extended, and the stern was extended to install a semi-automatic loader mechanism.
The armament of the experimental 770 Object consisted of an X-NUMX-mm M-130 cannon and a X-NUMX-mm KPVT machine gun paired with it. The twin unit was equipped with a two-plane Thunderstorm stabilizer, as well as a mechanized ammunition with an electromechanical rammer, which ensured the rate of fire of 65-14,5 rpm and automated guidance system. The gunner had a range-finder TPD-5С, night and day observation and aiming devices (night objective ТПН). Gun ammunition consisted of 7 shots, 2 of which were in the turret in the loader. Ammunition machine gun - 37 cartridges.

The installation of the experimental heavy tank "Object 770" was developed under the direction of V. Chudakov. on the basis of the B-2 diesel engine. 10-cylinder, double-row, four-stroke diesel double-row DTN-10 with water cooling, supercharged from the compressor and vertical arrangement of cylinders was installed in the rear part of the tank perpendicular to the longitudinal axis. The power of the “Object 770” on testing at 2500 rpm was 1000 hp The engine was connected to a double-flow hydromechanical transmission with a planetary gearbox and a complex torque converter and. A torque converter with two guide vanes in the power transmission circuit was connected in parallel. Transmission provided 3 front transmission (one mechanical and two hydromechanical) and one mechanical reverse gear. A feature of the gearbox and its drive was the ability to start the engine from the tug, as well as the implementation of engine braking (including first gear and reverse). The movement control of the tank was carried out with the help of a motorcycle steering wheel.
In the undercarriage, a hydropneumatic suspension, tracks with an open metal hinge and a hydraulic mechanism for tensioning the tracks were used. Each board had 6 large-diameter track rollers with internal cushioning. The drive wheel with removable toothed rims was located at the rear. A feature of the crawler propulsion design was the lack of supporting rollers.
The crew of the tank - 4 man. The “770 object” was equipped with anti-nuclear protection, thermo-smoke equipment, an automatic fire-prevention system, a gyro-semi-compass, night-time equipment, and also a heating system for habitable compartments. External communication was carried out with the help of radio station P-113, internal - with a tank intercom P-120.
Experienced heavy tank "Object 770" performed at a high technical level. The cast hull and turret, with pronounced differentiated armoring, provided enhanced projectile resistance. The tank had good maneuverability and was easily controlled. Experts of the landfill, where they tested all three experienced heavy tanks, considered the "770 Object" the most promising. Today, a prototype of this machine is exhibited in Kubinka in the Museum of armored weapons and equipment.
