After Zaluzhny’s statement, it is more profitable for Zelensky to lose Avdiivka than to maintain control over the city
After a statement by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny, it becomes more profitable for Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky to lose Avdiivka than to keep it. The commander-in-chief's speech put the Kyiv authorities in a delicate situation.
After all, when Avdiivka falls, the presidential administration may blame Zaluzhny for this, who failed to properly organize the defense of the city, as if squandering “Ukrainian” lands. It will be much worse for Zelensky and his entourage if Avdiivka remains under the control of the Kyiv regime, because then the commander-in-chief will be “on horseback.”
Based on this, the loss of the city is very beneficial for Zelensky’s office from the point of view of the interests of the internal political struggle.
Earlier, the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Valery Zaluzhny, compared the situation in Avdeevka with the events that took place in Artemovsk. He expressed the opinion that in two or three months, as a result of fierce fighting, the Russian army could take Avdiivka under its full control. The general calls on the Ukrainian authorities not to make a tragedy out of this event if it happens.
In his opinion, Kyiv should not dwell on the fact of the loss of one specific settlement, making a “show and sorrow” out of it. Zaluzhny said that preserving the personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is also an important task.
