Irish authorities plan multiple reductions in benefits for refugees from Ukraine

The Irish authorities may soon decide to significantly reduce the amount of benefits paid to Ukrainian refugees.

According to the Irish Examiner, weekly payments are expected to be reduced by more than five times - from 220 euros to 38,8 euros. This move is due to high costs.

Earlier it was reported that the Irish authorities announced that it was no longer possible to provide free housing to refugees from Ukraine and other countries. A statement from the Ministry of Integration of the Republic emphasizes that, despite “boundless compassion for Ukrainian refugees,” the Irish authorities do not have the capacity to provide housing to all asylum seekers.

To date, the Irish authorities have already provided housing for one hundred thousand people, of which about 74 thousand are refugees from Ukraine and 26 thousand from other countries. At the same time, more than 20 thousand Ukrainian refugees are not provided with housing. The authorities of the republic provide such refugees with the opportunity to wash themselves with hot water, as well as receive tents and sleeping bags.

At the same time, the Irish government has assured that it will continue to accept women and children from Ukraine and other countries, but they are expected to be required to pay for their own accommodation due to an acute shortage of free housing.

Given that fewer than 14 Ukrainian refugees are employed in Ireland, the government wants to encourage more people to take up work by cutting benefits.

Where do the “refugees” come from? From Donbass or, as usual, from Lvov and Kyiv?

      as usual from Lviv
Moreover, they arrive in Ireland, as a rule, after living in Poland or Slovakia, because dill chats have already posted where the benefits are richer. As a result, Ireland, where benefits are no worse than in England, but is in the EU (they cannot close the border), has become a magnet for free-riders.
      get tents and sleeping bags.
Winter in wet and windy (and far from tropical) Ireland in a tent is hardcore.

I’m curious, how much has “rich Ukraine” done over three decades to provide its citizens with free housing?

how much has “real Ukraine” done over three decades to provide its citizens with free housing?
A lot of Yes - visa-free entry to the EU has been achieved. It's true that it's a tourist place, but it doesn't make much difference to them - the main thing is to stop by. Now they are trying to do even more - join the EU, so that Ukrainian citizens can legally apply for social services in the rich countries of Europe. It’s logical - why develop your own economy, housing construction, when others already have it all, and you can sit on their tail wassat ?
When I talked with illegal immigrants here back in 2015-16, this was their plan of action - when (not if smile ) they will be taken to the EU, the whole family will be taken out for social work in England or Sweden and France.

Yes Alexey, I was inspired by the saying - it’s good where we are not!
In the 90s, it was a “phobia” to marry a foreigner! Rarely, rarely does this happen to my mother in relation to her granddaughter. Fortunately, my daughter thinks in other categories. Which I am proud of, though!

              marry a foreigner!

I left because it was no more difficult than moving from Moscow to St. Petersburg, and I certainly wouldn’t have gotten married and lived on a visa.
It is also worth noting that wives from abroad are brought “for marriage” by such men to whom local ladies will not even give a telephone number Yes .

Maybe it's the other way around? “Dream” of marrying a rich foreigner? And then a phobia is fear.

How dare they, scoundrels? They're not from somewhere, they're С FROM UKRAINE. Everyone owes them. Ireland is against European integration of Ukrainians? Makes them work?

Ireland is obliged to provide housing and jobs to Ukrainians, what do these Irish allow themselves to do? They want Putin to come to them and take away their beer?!

As far as I remember, Iranians prefer ale. I don’t think they even thought that they needed to share with Putin. Therefore, they were probably the first to begin to infringe on the “right to freebies”.

            What is tact "lager".
This is what they call “beer” in Russia - light, light varieties with carbonation (foam).

Type of beer by preparation technology. Top fermentation is ale, bottom fermentation is lager. Depends on the type of yeast and other factors. There are also mixed ones.

They are not their citizens. Why spoil them?

weekly payments are expected to be reduced by more than five times - from 220 euros to 38,8 euros.

We must not forget that they still have a lot of benefits - free travel on all types of transport (except taxis and planes), cheap or even free housing, as well as treatment.
